摘要: A system that enables a user to conveniently reduce the size of one or more mailboxes stored on the client computer system. The user can indicate that “unimportant” email messages are to be removed from one or more mailboxes. Unimportant email messages are automatically removed before important ones. To calculate the importance of a message for a given user, message attributes such as users associated with and/or terms contained in the message are compared against a personal interest profile associated with the local user. Additionally, dates associated with the message, such as when the message was added to the mailbox, and/or when the message was last read, may be used to further determine message importance. The size of a message may also be considered when determining whether a message should be removed.

摘要: The example embodiments relate to a method for handling and analyzing emails. In accordance with at least one example embodiment, a control character specifying a computer application may be determined to be included in an email message. The control character in the email may be compared to a library of control characters, such that each control character in the library corresponds to a command. If the control character in the email corresponds to a control character in the library, the command associated with the character may be executed, which may display a user interface in the email program, the user interface including at least two user-selectable actions specific to the computer application. The user may select an action from the user interface, which may execute the computer application in accordance with the selected action and automatically authenticate the user onto the computer application.

摘要: Described is a method for generating a parametric search statement for finding a target document. The parametric search statement is generated in the text boxes of a search bar. A user action is performed in the text box. An in-place context menu having menu items responsive to the user action are displayed near the location of the user action. Each menu item includes at least one of an attribute of the target document, a comparison operator and a value. One of the menu items is selected from the in-place context menu based on a known characteristic of the target document. Parametric search statements are easily generated using the method without the need to access numerous dialogs boxes or to enter significant text.

摘要: A method and system for preventing recipients from being added and/or removed from a message thread in an e-mail and/or calendaring application. Recipients of a thread message may be allowed to seek and obtain permission from a thread originator to insert a recipient to and/or remove a recipient from the thread. The originating user of a message thread can prevent insertion and/or removal of recipients in an e-mail message thread and/or a calendaring system invitation message by selecting from corresponding message composition user interface options. A mechanism persistently registers the recipient removal and/or insertion settings provided by the originating user, for example as settings stored in and conveyed with the messages themselves. The originating user can permit non-originating users to insert and/or remove recipients from the thread. The originating user can select an option in the message composition user interface that requires and/or allows non-originating users to request permission to insert and/or remove a recipient to a thread. The permission request is forwarded to the originating user, who can then accept or reject the request. The originating user can also expressly list or otherwise indicate which user(s) cannot be inserted into the message thread, and/or which recipients cannot be removed from the message thread.

摘要: A system for blending synchronous and asynchronous computer communication applications that determines when a user of a synchronous communication application, such as an instant messaging application, attempts to send a message to another user that is unavailable for synchronous communications, and that forwards the message from the synchronous communication application to an asynchronous communication application for delivery. The forwarded message may be an email message, and the system may operate to determine a destination electronic mail address of the destination user for inclusion in the forwarded message, and include an indication in the forwarded message that it has been forwarded from the synchronous communication application. This indication enables the asynchronous communication application to perform special processing with regard to the forwarded message.

摘要: A core idea of present invention is not only to have one fixed link/reference to one specific database, but to use a script/formula (e.g. a Notes @formula/expression) that resolves to a link to a specific database at runtime. This allows pointing to different NSFs in the development environment vs. production environment vs. any other environment. This reference (e.g., the @formula/expression) is written in a new user interface (UI) of the Lotus Notes Composite Application Editor (CAE) that is part of the current UI to define component property preferences. This UI would generate the XML below so that users don't have to do this manually.

摘要: Linked non-shared documents within email messages are made accessible to a recipient. Upon initiation of sending of an email message by a user, the MIME of the email is automatically parsed through to detect URL tags indicating that a linked document is contained within the email message. Upon detection of a URL tag, the prefix of the URL is checked to determine if it is accessible to a recipient. If the prefix indicates that the link is not accessible to the recipient, the sender is provided with at least the following options for making the linked document accessible to the recipient: sending the linked document as an in-line document by converting the document into HTML format and embedding it into a multi part MIME message, sending the linked document as an attachment with a link to a file system or document library, or converting the linked document into a pdf file and sending it as an attachment. If the prefix is set, by default, as one that is not accessible to the recipient, the option of converting the document into HTML format and embedding it into a multi part MIME message may be automatically selected.

摘要: A system for full text indexing optimization that operates based on identification of idle and active content in a content source, and by prioritizing indexing of idle content over active content. Active and idle content items are automatically identified, and idle content items are given a higher priority for indexing, while active content items are given a lower priority. Active content items are generally those that are considered relatively more likely to be located by the user without using the full text indexing function, while idle content items are those content items that are relatively more likely to be located through use of the full text indexing function. The specific content item attributes that are used to determine whether a given content item is active or idle may depend on the type content source for which the full text index is being provided. Additionally, the determination of which content items are active and which are idle may be based on predetermined, static criteria, and/or dynamically determined use patterns determined by monitoring operations performed on content items by a user.

摘要: A system and a method for providing user interest based search index optimization. The system includes a server node configured to transmit electonic mail, and a client node having an electronic recepticle and a dynamic interest profile member (DIP). The client node is interconnected to the server node via a network. The client node is configured to receive in the electronic receptacle the transmitted electronic mail. The DIP is configured to assign a DIP ranking to each piece of received electronic mail predicated upon at least one of, (i) the identity of the sender, and (ii) the keywords listed in the contents of the electronic mail. The DIP ranking of the electronic mail is compared to a DIP threshold; the electronic mail is added to a full text index located in the client node when the DIP ranking of the electronic mail exceeds the DIP threshold.
