An example embodiment of the invention includes a method, comprising the steps of: maintaining, at an apparatus, information regarding at least one of used communication protocols, operator identifiers, and bandwidths associated with one or more wireless networks served by the apparatus and wireless networks neighboring the one or more wireless networks served by the apparatus; forming, from the one or more wireless networks served by the apparatus and the wireless networks neighboring the one or more wireless networks served by the apparatus, a number of subsets, based on at least one of the used communication protocols, the operator identifiers, and the bandwidths associated with the one or more wireless networks served by the apparatus and the wireless networks neighboring the one or more served wireless networks; and comparing the number of formed subsets with a number of available channels.

    摘要: Signal instances are detected from within a long period of a received radiofrequency RF signal envelope, grouped according to signal level, and periodicities are determined among the grouped signal instances. Periodicity of one of the groups is matched to a known periodicity, and a frequency domain is estimated at a time instance derived from the matched periodicity. If an expected frequency pattern is found that occupies the derived time instance in the estimated frequency domain, then a receiver is synchronized to a candidate signal that lies within the frequency pattern. Then content of the candidate signal is decoded and that content is used to access a cognitive radio system (e.g., register to the system, start the normal operation in the network such as spectrum detection and/or transmission in a traffic channel, etc.).

    摘要: In a telecommunications system, where the receiver must find a signal arranged in a regular pattern in frame periods (10) and further in slots (11) from among several possible frequencies, there is applied a two-step synchronisation procedure. In the first step (20), the receiver records a sample sequence (30) having the length of two frame periods and a sampling ratio of 1/1, and calculates on the basis of this an estimate sequence (32), where each estimate is a sliding average of N successive samples, and N is the number of symbols contained by one slot. The largest estimates (35, 36, 37, 38) correspond to those bursts of the detected signal that have the highest power; on the basis of them, there is calculated a coarse frame synchronisation at the accuracy of 30 symbols. In the second step (24), in each recorded frame there is detected a given reference sequence (14;43) by looking for a sequence of successive samples that best correlates with the known form (43) of the reference sequence. If the location of the found reference sequences is equal, in both frames, with sufficient accuracy, the signal is found.

    摘要: The invention relates to the organization of phase references in a data transfer system based upon the multiplexing of orthogonal frequency components, when transmissions in the system are composed of relatively short symbol sequences. In accordance with the invention, in the first symbol (OS1) of the sequence differential phase-shift keying between elementary signals is carried out, based upon a phase reference (Ref) transmitted in one or several subfrequency bands (fc) and upon a phase shift chain propagated one subfrequency thereof at a time. In each subfrequency band in the subsequent symbols of the sequence phase-shift modulation refers to the elementary signal of the preceding symbol of the same subfrequency band. The invention may be applied with benefit to digital cellular network systems which employ the OFDM method.
