An exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure provides a liquid crystal display including: a first substrate; a pixel electrode disposed on the first substrate and including one or more unit pixel electrodes; a common electrode facing the pixel electrode; and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the pixel electrode and the common electrode, wherein a length of a short side of the one unit pixel electrode may be equal to or less than about 100 μm, a length of a long side of the one unit pixel electrode may be equal to or greater than about two times the length of the short side, and the one unit pixel electrode may include a stem portion including a horizontal stem and a vertical stem crossing each other and a plurality of minute branch electrodes extending from the stem portion.

A display device, includes: a plurality of gate lines which transmits a gate signal; a plurality of data lines which transmits a positive-polarity data voltage and a negative-polarity data voltage; a first color pixel including a first switching element connected to the gate line and the data line and a first capacitor connected to the first switching element, where the first color pixel displays a first color; and a second color pixel including a second switching element connected to the gate line and the data line and a second capacitor connected to the second switching element, where the second color pixel displays a second color different from the first color, where an optimum common voltage of the first color pixel is lower than an optimum common voltage of the second color pixel.

A mother substrate for a display device includes: a first mother substrate and a second mother substrate including a plurality of panel regions and facing each other; a first contact electrode and a second contact electrode on the first mother substrate; a common electrode, a first voltage application electrode and a second voltage application electrode separated from each other and on the second mother substrate; and a liquid crystal layer between the first mother substrate and the second mother substrate. The first voltage application electrode is connected to the first contact electrode, and the second voltage application electrode is connected to the second contact electrode. The first voltage application electrode is applied with a first voltage, and the second voltage application electrode is applied with a second voltage different from the first voltage.
