A main component of the cathode is a metal boride. With the above configuration, a work function of the cathode is reduced and electron injection efficiency is improved. As a result, luminous efficiency of the light-emitting device is improved.

The bank includes a forwardly tapered face on a side surface, and is in contact with the outer edge portion at the forwardly tapered face.
