Abstract: A wearable medical device is provided. The wearable medical device includes a garment that includes a sensing electrode, at least one of an inductive element and a capacitive element included in at least part of the garment, and a controller. The controller may be configured to determine a confidence level of information received from the sensing electrode based on at least one of an inductance of the inductive element and a capacitance of the capacitive element.

Abstract: According to some embodiments, a wearable medical device capable of treating a patient presenting with syncope is provided. The wearable medical device includes a memory storing event profile information, a battery, at least one treatment electrode coupled to the battery, at least one processor coupled to the memory and the at least one treatment electrode, and an event manager executed by the at least one processor. The event manager is configured to detect an event associated with syncope; store, in the memory, data descriptive of the event in association with an indication that the data includes data descriptive of a syncopal event; and address the event.

Abstract: An external medical device is provided which is configured to provide a user with access to one or more training modules. The external medical device includes one or more electrodes configured to detect a cardiac activity of a patient, an audio and/or visual output, and a controller coupled to the audio and/or visual output. The controller is configured to: detect at least one of a predetermined event and a device use pattern; and responsive to detecting the at least one of the predetermined event and the device use pattern, provide the patient access to one or more training modules relating to a use or a configuration of the external medical device via the audio and/or visual output. The device can also include a user interface configured to provide access to at least one training module according to a schedule of training modules for the patient.

Abstract: An external medical device includes a battery that can support a plurality of charge-discharge cycles prior to a predetermined battery life threshold. The device also includes a battery circuit that is operative for monitoring a condition of the battery, determining a battery life status of the battery based on the monitored condition and the predetermined battery life threshold, and, responsive to the determined battery life status, causing the device to enter into a low power operating mode. The low power operating mode can include modifying device functions that are performed, or modifying the manner in which a capacitor of the device is charged, or changing the battery that charges the capacitor, or isolating the capacitor from charge drainage, or causing the device to operate from charge stored on the capacitor.

Abstract: A wearable medical device and method of detecting clipping of ECG signals is disclosed. In one embodiment, the wearable medical device comprises a plurality of ECG sensing electrodes configured to sense an ECG of a patient and an ECG acquisition circuit electrically coupled to a pair of the plurality of ECG sensing electrodes and configured to provide an amplified and conditioned analog ECG signal, a programmable attenuation/gain stage electrically coupled between a first gain stage and a second gain stage, an ADC electrically coupled to the ECG acquisition circuit to receive and digitize the amplified and conditioned analog ECG signal and provide a digitized ECG signal, and a signal conditioning to and control unit electrically coupled to the ECG acquisition circuit and the ADC to receive and monitor the digitized ECG signal and to detect clipping of the amplified and conditioned analog ECG signal based upon the digitized ECG signal.
