Abstract: A multi-fiber, fiber optic connector may include a reversible keying arrangement for determining the orientation for plugging the connector into an adapter to thereby allow for a change in polarity of the connection to be made on site. The connector housing may be configured to engage with a removable key that may be engaged with the housing in at least two different locations to provide the plug-in orientation, or the housing may have slidably displaceable keys movable between multiple positions on the housing.

Abstract: A behind-the-wall optical connector an outer housing configured to be inserted into an adapter with a corresponding inner surface, a ferrule included in an annular collar to mate with a corresponding projection at an adapter opening, and a latch attached to one side of housing configured to lock the connecter into an adapter opening. The latch is further configured with a locking channel and guide to accept a pull tab with a catch at one end, the pull tab releases the connector from the adapter opening when the tab is pulled rearward or away from the adapter.

Abstract: An optical connector holding one or more optical ferrule assembly is provided. The optical connector includes an outer body, an inner front body accommodating the one or more optical ferrule assembly, ferrule springs for urging the optical ferrules towards a mating receptacle, and a back body for supporting the ferrule springs. The outer body and the inner front body are configured such that four optical ferrule assembly are accommodated in a small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceiver footprint or eight optical ferrule assembly are accommodated in a quad small form-factor pluggable (QSFP) transceiver footprint. A receptacle can hold one or more connector inner bodies forming a single boot for all the optical fibers of the inner bodies.

Abstract: Reduced-profile connection components are described. The reduced-profile connection components are configured to connect various data transmission elements, including cables, network devices, and computing devices. A non-limiting example of a connection component includes a fiber optic connection component, including connectors, adapters, and assemblies formed therefrom. In some embodiments, the connection components may include mechanical transfer (MT) and multi-fiber push-on/pull-off (MPO) connection components, such as MT ferrules and MPO adapters. The reduced-profile connection components configured according to some embodiments have a smaller profile and/or require less parts to achieve a connection compared to conventional connection components. In some embodiments, the reduced-profile connection components may be used with conventional connection components. For example a reduced-profile connector may use a conventional MT ferrule to establish a connection within a conventional MPO adapter.

Abstract: Connection systems for use in fiber optic communication networks and systems are disclosed. Embodiments of backplane connection systems are disclosed that include a daughterboard connector that can make with a backplane connector. One of the connectors can include a movable latch element that can bend a bendable arm on the other connector to latch and unlatch the connectors. A connector can include a movable blocking element that prevents a latch control element from moving its full range when the connectors are disconnected. A latch control element can have a range of motion along which it maintains the connection system in a latched configuration. A mounting system is also disclosed that permits a connector to flow or move along the board in a limited range of motion with respect to three axes.

Abstract: A fiber optic connector having a ferrule that forms an optical connection with another fiber optic connector. An outer housing supports the ferrule and has a front end portion and a longitudinal centerline axis. The front end portion includes a front end face with a portion of the ferrule being forward of the front end face. The front end portion includes a protector that is shaped and arranged to protect the ferrule. The protector is arranged so that the fiber optic connector and another fiber optic connector of identical construction can, starting in the same orientation, be mated together by rotating said other fiber optic connector 180° about an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal centerline axis, aligning the longitudinal centerline axes and moving the fiber optic connectors along the longitudinal centerline axes until the fiber optic connectors are mated to form the optical connection.
