Abstract:
The present invention relates to a barking machine which comprises a frame (1), barking rotor (2), which is rotably mounted on the frame (1) and which barking rotor comprises a rotor frame (3), barking blades (4) mounted on the rotor frame (3), and a first power unit (5) mounted on the rotor frame (3) that is connected to the barking blades (T) for transferring the barking force into them. According to the invention, in the barking rotor there is arranged an adjustment device (6) movable with respect to the rotor frame, and a second power unit (7) which is mounted on the frame (3) for transmitting the barking force via the first power unit (5) to the barking blades (4). This solution enables one to adjust the barking depth of the barking blades without stopping the barking rotor.
Abstract:
Apparatus for debarking logs including a drum mounted for rotation about an axis to define an inner drum surface. Debarking apparatus is provided on the inner surface configurable to debark logs within the drum at a first rate on rotation of the drum in a first direction and at a second rate when the drum is rotated in a second direction.
Abstract:
A debarking machine having a plurality of debarking tools spaced circumferentially around a rotor. The debarking tools are movable independently between radially inward positions and dilated positions. Movement of the debarking tools is caused by hydraulic rotary actuators, hydraulic fluid pressure being supplied to the actuators independent hydraulic accumulators, a pair of hydraulic accumulators being provided for each rotary actuator.
Abstract:
An air-seal cooling fin system in a log debarker of the type having a frame, a ring mounted for rotation on the frame, and air-pressure actuated debarking arms carried on the ring. Pressurized air is supplied to the arms through a rotary air seal composed of a stationary seal portion joined to the frame and a rotatable seal portion joined to the ring including a pair of spaced annular elements disposed on axially opposed sides of the stationary portion. Arranged on each of the annular elements in the rotatable seal portion is a circular array of angularly spaced fins. These fins act to radiate heat generated in the seal during debarker operation and interact with a circular array of fins carried on the stationary portion to create cooling air turbulence in the region of the seal.
Abstract:
A cutting tool assembly for the surface treatment of round timber including an arm having at one end thereof a recess portion at least a portion of which is shaped substantially as a partial regular pyramid, a cutting tool shaped substantially as a regular pyramidal funnel adapted for engagement with and disposed in the recess and fastening means for removably securing the cutting tool in the recess.
Abstract:
A debarking tool for debarking hollow rotors, comprising a shaft carrying a radially extending arm, said arm being pressed integrally from a steel plate to the shape of a chute adapted to face its concave side onto the feed direction of a log to be debarked.
