Abstract: Exemplary embodiments are directed to a pedal for a bicycle that includes a body, a spindle secured to the body and for connection to the bicycle, a first magnetic platter, and a second magnetic platter overlaying the first magnetic platter. The first and second magnetic platters each include a plurality of blocks formed of a material that can be magnetized, and a plurality of permanent magnet plates arranged so as to magnetize the blocks with either a magnetic north or magnetic south polarity with adjacent blocks being magnetized with opposite magnetic polarities. The second magnetic platter is movable with respect to the first magnetic platter by a ferrous metal cleat between a first position where the pedal is in a magnetically inactive state and a second position where the pedal is in a magnetically active state magnetically securing the cleat to the second magnetic platter.

Abstract: A method for automatic retraction of a pedal of a bicycle. A first electric actuator is provided on a crank, and the pedal is driven to be retracted by the first electric actuator to complete a first retraction, so that long side of the pedal is changed into a front-rear direction from a left-right direction; a second electric actuator mounted on a bicycle frame drives the crank to idle, and the pedal is gradually straightened in the first retraction process to be parallel with the plane of the bicycle frame to complete a second retraction of the pedal. Using this method, the pedal can be conveniently retracted, and the transverse (left-right) occupying space is minimized, thereby facilitating the automatic storage and saving the storage space.

Abstract: A single-face clipless pedal structure includes a pedal body for a cleat to be disposed thereon. The axle portion of the pedal body is formed with a recessed stepped portion at the front end thereof The stepped portion is enclosed by a bottom wall and a lateral wall including a stopping face, a first and a second guiding faces at two ends of the stopping face. The first and the second guiding faces are arc concave-shaped. The cleat is formed with an abutting piece downward having an abutting face, a third and a fourth guiding faces at two ends of the abutting face. The abutting face abuts against the stopping face to prohibit the cleat from moving rearward and upward. The third and the fourth guiding faces correspond to the first and the second guiding faces respectively to facilitate the cleat to detach laterally.

Abstract: A clipless pedal system is provided. In various embodiments, systems of the present disclosure comprise pedals and cleats for interaction with the pedals. At least one of a pedal and an associated cleat comprises a magnet, and at least one of the pedal and the associated cleat comprises a ferrous metal for interaction with the magnet. Geometric features are provided to enable both a secure connection between a cleat and a pedal and to enable a user-friendly release of the cleat from the pedal.

Abstract: A bicycle pedal comprises a pedal body, a first engagement member, and a biasing member. The first engagement member is movably coupled to the pedal body between a clamping position and a releasing position. The first engagement member is pivotable about a pivot axis in a pivot direction and slidable in a slide direction between the clamping position and the releasing position. The slide direction is different from the pivot direction. The biasing member biases the first engagement member toward the clamping position.

Abstract: An embedded magnetic induction pedal device adapted to be mountable to a bicycle pedal crank, which includes a pedal body, a bearing, a pedal axle, a magnetic induction unit, a permanent magnet unit, a processing unit, a transmission device, and a power supply unit. The pedal body is formed with an axle hole in which the magnetic induction unit is arranged. The pedal axle is received in the axle hole. The eccentric seat is mounted to the pedal axle. The permanent magnet unit is retained in the eccentric seat and is set at a position that is deviated from an axis of the pedal axle so that during a relative motion between the permanent magnet unit and the magnetic induction unit, the magnetic induction unit detects a variation of the magnetic field, based on which the processing unit calculate and determine operation data of the pedal crank that are transmitted by the transmission device.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to a pedal system having a pedal coupled to a main drive shaft having a locked mode where the pedal does not rotate relative to the main drive shaft and a released mode where the pedal can rotate relative to the main drive shaft. In the locked mode, rotation of the pedal relative to the main drive shaft is prevented by a plunger that engages the main drive shaft. In the released mode, rotation of the pedal relative to the main drive shaft is enabled by having the plunger disengage from the main drive shaft. The pedal system is switchable between the locked and released modes. When a user's foot or footwear is engaging the pedal, the pedal is placed in the released mode, and when the user's foot or footwear is disengaged from the pedal, the pedal is placed in the locked mode.

Abstract: A quick-mount crank-pedal mechanism for a children bicycle is provided. The quick-mount crank-pedal mechanism is composed of a crank rod, a crank bearing and a pedal. The crank rod and the crank bearing are fitted with each other, and the pedal is coupled to the crank bearing. With the mechanism, the pedal is enabled to be in a usable state quickly without using any tools, and a tip of the crank is effectively protected from puncturing through a carton, thereby reducing potential safety hazards.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to a pedal system having a cuff for retaining a foot or footwear at the pedal in a manner that supports different sizes and form factors of feet or footwear. The pedal system has a rod secured to a pedal in a rotatable manner and the cuff is coupled to the rod. A lever may be coupled to the rod in a manner where engagement of the lever by the user's foot or footwear affects the rod and thus, a position of the cuff relative to the user's foot or footwear. The lever and the cuff may retain the user's foot or footwear at the pedal in an engaged mode and release the user's foot or footwear from the top surface in a disengaged mode. The pedal system is switchable between the engaged mode and the disengaged mode.
