摘要： This disclosure relates to a circular sheet feeding apparatus with a lower loading tray which can be used for loading uneven stacks of sheets, and with a loading and reversing mechanism which carries the uneven stack of sheets in an initial direction underneath a reversing drum, and then around the drum with the help of the drum itself, and into a pick-up tray moving in a second direction. This apparatus is also equipped with an extractor for the removal of the top sheet on the pick-up tray which conveys the sheet in a direction opposite to said second direction.

摘要： In a sheet counter in which sheets held in a stack in sheet-holding means are successively separated from the stack by suction heads, there are provided first electrical switch means such as a microswitch which is closed when the sheet-holding means has been manually moved to a sheet-loading position and second switch means which is closed when the stack of sheets loaded on the sheet-holding means has been carried to a counting position. An electric motor for imparting rotation to the suction heads and a vacuum pump for creating a partial vacuum therein are set in operation only when both of the first and second switch means have been thus closed. The sheet counter is also provided with means for properly readjusting the position of the suction heads relative to the stack of sheets prior to counting operation.

摘要： A high speed sheet feeding apparatus in which the lowermost sheet of a stack is propelled from the stack by a rotating perforate cylindrical member connected to a source of vacuum. A pawl actuated by an adjustable cam governs the amount of rotation of the cylindrical member for each sheet in accordance with the length of the sheet. At the start of each feeding cycle a detent on the pawl urges the cylindrical member in the direction opposite its feeding rotation for a short distance. As a result, the lowermost sheet is initially slightly buckled, freeing it from the next adjacent sheet and insuring single sheet feed.

摘要： The combination with a magazine for holding a stack of labels, of a vacuum picker arranged to take hold of an end portion of the endmost label and present it to the nip between a pair of tangentially engaged rotating members which are adapted to withdraw the label from the stack and while the latter are withdrawing the label presented thereto to pick the succeeding label preparatory to presenting it to the rotating members so that while one label is being pulled out of the magazine the next label is being picked. One of the rotating members may be a turret having peripherally spaced pads adapted in cooperation with the other member to take hold of successive labels presented thereto by the picker and transfer the labels one at a time successively to a position for receiving an application of adhesive and thereafter to a position for application to a container. The label is held against lateral movement in its own plane during picking of the end portion from the stack and presentation to said rotating members to provide for predetermined registration with the one rotating member and air jets are arranged to impinge upon the top and sides of the stack adjacent the endmost label to initiate separation of the endmost label for picking.

摘要： A mechanism for feeding lightweight sheets of paper, one at a time, to a printing press in which a rotationally oscillated vacuum drum with suction holes therein grasps pieces of paper off the bottom of a stack with each oscillation. The stack is adjustably supported at a predetermined height just above the oscillating feed drum to insure that only one piece of paper at a time is selected. An air jet is used to separate the edges of the paper sheets in the stack while a separating plate next to the drum operates to block off the suction holes at the end of each oscillation and separate each piece of paper from the oscillating drum.

摘要： A bellows, incorporated within a sheet feed roller, is actuated by external actuating apparatus to create a partial vacuum at suction ports in the feed roller periphery. A pivotal pressure pad assembly momentarily presses a sheet stack against the ports, leaving the top sheet adhered to the feed roller which is then rotated to advance the separated top sheet to a prefeed position. Additional actuating apparatus, operating on command, rotates the feed roller through the remainder of a complete revolution to feed the prefed sheet from the apparatus and to reorient the feed roller for the next sheet separation and prefeed cycle.
