For example, various tools such as trowels, knives, and scrapers may be made having at least a portion of their blades heat treated to make at least their working edges more durable and extend their useful lives. For example, in various embodiments, a putty knife, taping knife, or scraper blade may have at least one working surface or edge that has been at heat treated while an area of the blade where a handle is permanently attached is not heat treated.

    摘要： The applicator-container (10) has an interior (14) within which a flowable paste material such as a caulking compound, a sealing compound, putty or the like may be contained. A threaded cap (34) is used to selectively open or close container mouth (16). One end of applicator-container (10) is tapered to provide a smooth applicator blade surface (28) which terminates in a straight edge (30). Applicator blade surface (28) and straight edge 30 simulate the configuration of a conventional putty knife and may be used to shape and smooth a flowable paste material dispensed from the applicator-container (10).

    摘要： A universal multi-function tool in the form of a painter's knife is provided in which the tool includes a slender pivoted, elongated element with a sharp tip for puncturing caulking tubes and an integral pusher bar specially adapted for contacting glazing points to serve as a glazing point setter for forcing the toothed portions of the glazing point into corresponding window and door frames. The tool is also provided with a paint can opener and both phillips head and flat head screwdrivers to permit storm window screw removal as well as light fixture plate removal. A knife is also provided for removal of the caulking tube tip, thereby eliminating the necessity of a razor knife, although a detachable razorblade holder is provided as an optional feature for cleaning windows. All of the tool elements are pivoted at respective ends of the tool, with the subject painter's knife providing no sharp objects protruding into the painter or his pocket.

    摘要： A cutting tool for separating beads of adhesive, with a U-shaped cross-section consisting of two flanks connected by a web. One flank is a sickle-shaped blade and the other is employed to attach the tool to an oscillating driveshaft. The center of curvature of the sickle shape extends toward the point at which the cutting tool is secured. The web between the tensioning shank and the blade may have ridges. These ridges extend to the sides of the tensioning shank and blade. The web is longitudinally curved between the tensioning shank and the blade, and has round edges.
