摘要： A machine, such as a phase change or solid ink printing apparatus, comprises at least one ink stick and a coupler external to the ink stick. The ink stick has an electronically-readable memory device attached thereto, with the memory device having stored therein electronic data associated with the ink stick. The coupler is configured to read the electronic data from the memory device. The data in the memory device may include identification data, anti-arbitrage variables, usage data, maximum use values, and performance data related to the ink stick, and the coupler and memory device may employ various means for communicating this data. Also, communication between the coupler and memory device facilitates a method for determining a quantity of marking material in the machine.

摘要： A hardware interface usable to communicate with electrically erasable read-only memory devices and, optionally, other external controls or devices, includes self-monitoring power supply circuitry, an EEPROM driver and noise and signal degradation prevention circuitry, and optional input/output circuitry which provides for programmatically cycling power to the memory device. The self-monitoring power supply circuitry is capable of determining whether a power supply has reached the hardware interface. The EEPROM driver and noise and signal degradation prevention circuitry reduces signal noise and/or signal degradation and driver circuitry for programming, monitoring, and downloading information to and from the EEPROM devices. The digital input/output circuitry is capable of controlling the power supply to the hardware interface, downloading or monitoring information to the hardware interface, or controlling/responding to external devices or controls.

摘要： An electroded donor roll for mounting partially within a mixing chamber of a development unit for forming a development zone with an image bearing member and moving charged toner particles from the mixing chamber to the development zone. The donor roll includes a conductive shaft core and a dielectric material layer that is injection molded over the shaft core. The donor roll also includes axially extending electrodes formed in the surface of the dielectric layer, and robust commutator contact pads that are formed from a conductive commutator washer device which has been overmolded into the dielectric layer. The commutator pads each are in line with, and contact an axially extending electrode.

摘要： A developer unit adapted to develop a latent image with toner particles. The unit includes a housing defining a chamber for storing a supply of toner particles in the chamber. The unit also includes a donor roll including an electrically non-conductive circumferential surface having a conductivity less than 10.sup.-8 (ohm-cm).sup.-1 and having a central region and opposed marginal regions disposed on either side of the central region with the diameter of the central region being less than the diameter of the opposed marginal regions. The donor roll is spaced from the latent image to form a development zone. The unit further includes an electrode member which is positioned in the development zone adjacent opposed marginal regions and spaced from the central regions of the donor roll. The electrode member is electrically biased to detach toner particles from the donor roll to form a toner powder cloud in the development zone with toner particles from the toner cloud developing the latent image.

摘要： A xerographic printer especially suitable for printing copies of oversized original documents is enabled by staggering a plurality of image bars in optical alignment with a linear projection means such as gradient index lens arrays which are tilted at a preferred angle. The image bars are selectively addressed in response to digitized bit-mapped data inputs representing the document information. The modulated light outputs from the bars are transmitted as focused lines on the surface of the photoreceptor. The printer includes illumination lamps and a lamp aperture which parallels the staggered image bars. Further, a multi-function copier/printer is realized by combining a variation of the xerographic printer with a conventional imaging system for copying a document.

摘要： An Active Ozone Scrubber includes a low profile thick film device. The low profile thick film device is composed of films layered upon each other and built on a ceramic substrate. Each layer is screened upon the next with the active elements strategically placed in order to develop corona when energized. When activated, the corona developed within the channels of the upper layer creates heat and accelerates the chemical reaction with the ozone, thereby reducing the amount of Ozone ozone generated by a conventional charge/discharge system before it is exhausted by a machine into the environment.

摘要： A machine, such as a phase change or solid ink printing apparatus, has at least one multiple supply unit in the form of an ink stick disposed therein. The ink stick has an electronically-readable memory device associated therewith, and the memory device has stored therein electronic data related to the ink stick and readable by the machine. The memory device is attached to the ink stick and removed before the ink stick is used for printing in the machine. In another aspect, the memory device is attached to a container for the ink stick. The container is a cartridge for use in the machine, or a container for packaging the ink stick. The machine may include a coupler configured to read electronic data from the memory device while the memory device is positioned external to the printing apparatus, thus allowing the machine to verify the suitability of the ink stick before it is installed in the machine.
