    摘要: A recording/reproducing apparatus having an optical pickup device which is efficient in light use having little spherical aberration. The recording and/or reproducing apparatus includes an optical pickup having an objective lens, disposed opposite a disk, having a light passing region divided into central, intermediate and periphery regions corresponding to a near axis area, an intermediate axis area and a far axis area of incident light, where the curvature of the central and peripheral regions is optimized for a thin disk and that of the intermediate region is optimized for a thick disk, a light source irradiating light toward a disk through the objective lens; a photo detector for detecting light reflected from the disk, and a beam splitter, disposed between the objective lens and the light source, for transmitting light from the light source toward the objective lens and for diffracting light reflected from the disks toward the photo detector; and a processing unit to process an information signal to control the incident light generated by the light source, and to process the detected light from the photodetector. Therefore, the optical pickup device can be used for both compact disks (CDs) that are thick using light beam passing the near and intermediate regions of said objective lens, and digital video disks (DVDs) that are thin using light beam passing the near and far axis regions of said objective lens, and detect signals without picking up noise regardless of the thickness of the disk.

    摘要: A semiconductor laser for generating a laser beam and an optical pickup for recording/reproducing information using the semiconductor laser as an optical source are provided. The semiconductor laser includes an aperture member on an emitting end thereof to perform high-density memory recording/reproducing through the reduction of an optical spot. The aperture has a hole whose diameter is smaller than the width of the active region of the semiconductor laser, to thereby restrictively emit the laser beam via the hole so that the optical spot formed on an optical disk is reduced. Thus, high-density memory recording/reproducing, which is useful for miniaturized information processors, can be realized.

    摘要: An optical pickup using a light-emitting diode (LED), which is capable of forming a light spot of an appropriate size for high-density recording/reproduction. The optical pickup includes a light-emitting diode (LED) to generate and emit light; a condensing unit to condense the light emitted from the LED; an optical filter to selectively transmit a predetermined wavelength of the light emitted from the LED; a spatial filter having a pin-hole, to limit a transmission range of the light condensed by the condensing unit; and a collimating lens to condense the divergent light passed through the spatial filter to form a parallel light. The parallel light is directed by a beam splitter toward an objective lens which focuses the parallel light on an optical disk. The light reflected from the optical disk is received by a photodetector.

    摘要: An optical pickup device which is efficient in light use having little spherical aberration. The optical pickup device of an optical pickup includes an objective lens, disposed opposite a disk, having a light passing region divided into central, intermediate and periphery regions corresponding to a near axis area, an intermediate axis area and a far axis area of incident light, where the curvature of the central and peripheral regions is optimized for a thin disk and that of the intermediate region is optimized for a thick disk; a light source irradiating light toward a disk through the objective lens; a photo detector for detecting light reflected from the disk; and a beam splitter, disposed between the objective lens and the light source, for transmitting light from the light source toward the objective lens and for diffracting light reflected from the disks toward the photo detector. Therefore, the optical pickup device can be used for both compact disks (CDs) that are thick using light beam passing the near and intermediate regions of said objective lens, and digital video disks (DVDS) that are thin using light beam passing the near and far axis regions of said objective lens, and detect signals without picking up noise regardless of the thickness of the disk.

The method includes the steps of increasing and decreasing a focus voltage applied to an actuator of an objective lens facing a disc having an information-recorded plane to move the objective lens in a standby state at a neutral position to a focus position corresponding to the disc, detecting a movement distance value of the objectiveness from a focus signal applied to the actuator when the objective lens moves to the focus position, comparing the movement distance value with a reference value and determining the disc to be a thick disc if the movement distance value is greater than the reference value, and determining the disc to be a thin disc if the movement distance value is less than the reference value.

    摘要: In detecting a focus error for an optical pickup, an inverse image generator for generating inverse images onto a light beam reflected from an optical disk is used in a focus error detecting method and apparatus thereof. The inverse image generator is composed of a semi-transmissive plane for splitting a light beam into first and second light beams, first and second prisms for inverting the phase of the second light beam, and third and fourth prisms for synthesizing the phase-inverted second light beam with the first light beam. Also, the inverse image generator has two quadrant wave plates, a polarization plane and light synthesizing plane for preventing a light loss. Since the errors due to an optical axis variation is eliminated from the focus error signal detected from the synthetic light beam radiated by the inverse generator, the optical pickup can be driven with stability.

    摘要: A swing arm driving type optical recording/reproducing apparatus includes a base, at least one optical disk rotatably installed on the base, both sides of which are information recording surfaces and a plurality of optical pickups which are equal in number to the information recording surfaces so as to form light spots on the respective information recording surfaces of the optical disk. Each optical pickup includes a light source for irradiating light. The apparatus also includes optical path changing units respectively arranged on optical paths between the light sources and respective ones of the information recording surfaces for changing the traveling paths of the lights and objective lenses arranged between the optical path changing units and the respective information recording surfaces for condensing incident light on the respective information recording surfaces. Photodetectors receive the lights reflected from the respective information recording surfaces and incident via the respective objective lenses and the optical path changing units. A swing member includes a mount on which the light sources, the optical path changing units and the photodetectors are installed. A plurality of swing arms extend from the mount. A suspension has one end which is installed on a surface of each swing arm and is adjacent to the respective information recording surface for elastically biasing the other end. A slider is installed at the other end of the suspension, which contacts the respective information recording surface by the elastic bias of the suspension and into which the respective objective lens is loaded. A supporting unit is interposed between the base and the mount for supporting the swing member to be reciprocally rotatable centering around one hinge point on the base and a magnetic driver for reciprocally rotating the swing member.

    摘要: An optical pickup in which a light receptor and a light transmitter are integrated with a catadioptric objective lens. The optical pickup includes a unit for emitting laser light to a recording medium and detecting the light reflected from the recording medium. The catadioptric objective lens includes a first reflective area for reflecting the light incident from the unit, a focusing area for focusing the light incident from the unit as a focused spot, and a second reflective area for reflecting the light reflected from the first reflective area toward the focusing area. The first reflective area and the focusing area form a first surface of the catadioptric objective lens while the second reflective area is a part of a second surface of the catadioptric objective lens located in the vicinity of the unit. The light from the unit is incident to the catadioptric objective lens via portions of the second surface other than the second reflective area The optical pickup uses compact and light-weight components creating a thinner optical pickup suitable for use in slim devices such as notebook computers.
