Included herein is a method that may include implementing one or more management layers for managing M2M entities in an M2M environment. The method may also include using a plurality of management layers to manage a M2M area network, wherein the M2M area network may include one or more M2M end devices. The M2M end devices may include, for example, an M2M gateway and/or an M2M device. The management layers may include any of an application management layer, service management layer, network management layer and a device management layer. The management layers may provide any of configuration management, fault management, and performance management of the M2M entities.

    摘要: Method and apparatus for supporting machine-to-machine (M2M) communications in a hierarchical network architecture including an M2M gateway are disclosed. An M2M entity, (such as M2M device, M2M gateway, or M2M network entity), may perform a service capability discovery procedure to discover an M2M service capability entity that may provide an M2M service capability, and register with the discovered M2M service capability entity. The address or identity of the service capability entity may be pre-configured or obtained from the dispatcher server. The M2M entity may indicate a support M2M service identifier and receive an identity or address of the M2M service capability entity mapping the service identifier. The gateway may advertise M2M service identifiers supported by the gateway so that the M2M device may access the gateway if there is a match. The address of M2M service capability entities may be obtained from the core network.

    摘要: A multi-node communication system and method used to request, report and collect destination-node-based measurements and route-based measurements is disclosed. The communication system may be a mesh network including a plurality of mesh points (MPs). In one embodiment, a destination-node-based measurement request is sent to one or more destination nodes via destination-unicast, destination-multicast, or destination-broadcast, using routes specified via next-hop-unicast, next-hop-multicast, or next-hop-broadcast addressing. In another embodiment, a source node sends a measurement request message to a final destination node, whereby each node along the route individually sends a measurement report message to the source node. Alternatively, measurement results of each node are combined and appended to the measurement request message, and a measurement report message including the combined measurement results is sent to the source node.

    摘要: Systems and methods are provided for using a light weight protocol (LWP) and protocol agent in a network communication system. A protocol agent receives a message in LWP from an end node. The message in LWP is directed to a destination network node that uses a network protocol that the end node is incapable of supporting, such as Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP), Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) or other network protocols. The protocol agent determines a network protocol to map the message to, and generates a message in the determined network protocol based on the received LWP message. The protocol agent then sends the generated message to the destination network node.

An MBMS multi-cell coordination unit is provided to coordinate a plurality of evolved Node-Bs (eNodeBs) for transmission of MBMS data synchronously in multiple cells of the same single frequency network (SFN). The MBMS multi-cell coordination unit may be located in an access gateway or in an eNodeB. An MBMS multi-cell scheduling scheme may be preconfigured for the eNodeBs for synchronization.     摘要: A method for determining whether a data transmission rate in a wireless communication system is appropriate for current system conditions begins by calculating a frame error rate (FER) for a given period of time and obtaining a current data rate. If the current data rate is greater than a minimum data rate and the FER is a high value, then the system switches to a lower data rate. If the current data rate is greater than a minimum data rate and the FER is less than a high value, then the system maintains the current data rate. If the current data rate is less than a maximum data rate and the FER is a low value, then the system determines whether a higher data rate can be used.
