摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image-forming unit having a charging section and a developing section that are rotated together with a photoconductor in an idling manner. The charging section and developing section receive voltages while rotating. The apparatus includes a toner sensor and a controller. The toner sensor outputs a detection signal indicating that the toner has been replenished in the image-forming unit. In accordance with the detection signal, the controller changes the voltages, a time length during which the photoconductor, charging section, and developing section are rotated, or speeds at which the photoconductor, charging section, and developing section are rotated. The time length is extended or speeds are increased when the image-forming unit has been replaced.

摘要： An electrophotographic image recording apparatus incorporates a fixing unit in which a toner image deposited on a print medium is fused by heat under pressure. The fixing unit includes a fixing member and a separator plate. The fixing member is in pressure contact with a pressure member. The separator plate that is disposed close to the fixing member and has a longitudinal portion extending in a direction transverse to a transport path of the print medium. The separator plate has a mid portion of the longitudinal portion. The mid portion has resiliency to extend away from the transport path and a guide member that pushes the mid portion of the separator plate to maintain the entire longitudinal portion flat so that mid portion is prevented from extending away from the transport path.

摘要： An electrophotographic recording apparatus that removes reverse-charged toner that is charged with a polarity opposite to a polarity of a normal-charged toner. The apparatus includes a carrier belt; a transfer roller for carrying the toner adhering to the surface of the photosensitive body toward the carrier belt; a transfer power supply for applying to the transfer roller a first voltage that causes the normal-charged toner adhering to the surface of the photosensitive body to be transferred to the recording medium on the carrier belt, and a second voltage, of opposite polarity to the first voltage, that causes the reverse-charged toner adhering to the surface of the photosensitive body to be transferred to the carrier belt; and a carrier belt cleaning blade. A control circuit controls an operation of the transfer power supply, whereby the first voltage is applied to the transfer roller during an image-forming stage, and the second voltage is applied to the transfer roller during a reverse-charged toner removing stage. For example, the normal-charged toner may have a negative polarity, the reverse-charged toner may have a positive polarity, the first voltage may be positive, and the second voltage may be negative.

摘要： An image forming apparatus having a unit for charging the surface of an image carrier uniformly with electricity, the charging unit being contacted by a conductive element which changes a polarity of toner adhering to the unit, a unit for forming an electrostatic latent image on the surface of the image carrier charged electrically, a unit for developing the electrostatic latent image formed on the surface of the image carrier to thereby form a toner image and a means for transferring and fixing the toner image to a transfer member. The developing unit includes a developing roller which is disposed so as to contact the image carrier. The developing roller is connected to a power source for charging the toner particles on the developing roller with electricity with the same polarity as the charging polarity of the the image carrier, and for applying an electric potential to the developing roller so that the toner particles remaining on the developing roller are stuck to an image portion of the image carrier and the toner particles remaining on a non-image portion of the image carrier are attracted by the developing roller. The developing roller rotates in the direction opposite to that of the image carrier and a peripheral velocity of the developing roller exceeds 1.2 times that of the image carrier. Since the collected toner particles are not necessary to be disposed of, the environment is not polluted and the efficiency of using the toner is improved.

A driving circuit controllably rotates the developing roller, and a controller controls the driving circuit. The controller generates signals to control the driving circuit to reverse the rotation of the developing roller under certain conditions.
