Abstract:
The overlay human interactive proof system (“OHIPS”) and techniques described herein operate in conjunction with any known or later developed computer-based applications or services to provide secure access to resources by reliably differentiating between human and non-human users. Humans have a generally superior ability to differentiate misaligned characters or objects from correctly aligned ones. As such, the OHIP splits an image including one or more visual objects into two or more partial images to form a HIP. The partial images may also be further split into groups of sub-partial images, and/or the partial images (or the sub-partial images) may be moved, so that at any given alignment position, a user can recognize only some visual objects. A user is instructed to reassemble the partial images at one or more predetermined alignment positions using a GUI, and the user is asked to identify information regarding one or more visible objects.
Abstract:
In one aspect, the present invention reduces the amount of low-latency memory needed for rules-based packet classification by representing a packet classification rules database in compressed form. A packet processing rules database, e.g., an ACL database comprising multiple ACEs, is preprocessed to obtain corresponding rule fingerprints. These rule fingerprints are much smaller than the rules and are easily accommodated in on-chip or other low-latency memory that is generally available to the classification engine in limited amounts. The rules database in turn can be stored in off-chip or other higher-latency memory, as initial matching operations involve only the packet key of the subject packet and the fingerprint database. The rules database is accessed for full packet classification only if a tentative match is found between the packet key and an entry in the fingerprint database. Thus, the present invention also advantageously minimizes accesses to the rules database.
Abstract:
Systems and methods that comprise receiving a training set of samples, a set of features for a first subset of the set of features, a feature value with a first subset of the training set, a weight with a second subset of the training set. Determining for a second subset of the set of features, a first threshold value with a first metric minimized, and determining, for a third subset of the set of features, a second threshold value with a second metric is minimized, then determining, for a fourth subset of the set of features, a number of thresholds, determining, for a fifth subset of the set of features, an error value based on the number of thresholds, afterward determining the feature having the lowest error, and finally updating the weights by classifying a sample as either belonging to an object class or not based on the strong classifier.
Abstract:
The HIP creation technique described herein pertains to a technique for creating a human interactive proof (HIP) by applying tearing and/or a conformal transformation to a string of characters while maintaining readability of text. In one embodiment, the technique tears a character string into two or more pieces and applies conformal transformation to warp the pieces in order to create a HIP. The transformation changes the shape and orientation of the characters but preserves angles of the characters which makes it easy for humans to recognize the characters after the transformation. Other embodiments of the technique create HIPs by applying tearing only to a string of characters, or by applying conformal transformation only to the character string.
Abstract:
A method and corresponding systems for using remote control to realize standard colors on displays. Two examples of remote controls are provided, one with color sensors and the other with white LEDs. For each example a calibration pattern is displayed which allows a user to calibrate the display color conveniently. For using the remote control with color sensors, an algorithm for the display to adjust the input RGB color, based on the color measurements from the remote control is provided. This allows the display output RGB color so that the display shows the same color as the input RGB signal is sent to standard color display.
Abstract:
A color quantization or re-quantization method is provided that combines two dimensional halftoning with luminance preserving quantization (LPQ) for better perception results of high precision color video quantization. A combination of LPQ and error diffusion, and a combination of LPQ and spatial dithering, is provided. To combine LPQ and spatial dithering, the spatial dithering is regarded as a two-step processing, a mapping and a simple rounding. To combine LPQ and dithering together, a rounding step is replaced by the LPQ algorithm in the combination. Further a method is provided for post-processing which is applicable to both cases to reduce the color perception for grayscale image.
Abstract:
A paper cutter with changeable cutter holder includes a slideway support, a slideway, a worktable support, a cover, a control block, and a changeable cutter holder. The slideway is placed under the slide-way support. The worktable support providing with the changeable cutter holder is placed on the slideway, and the control block is placed on the cover provided on the workable support. The present invention ensures it couldn't happen to hurt user's hand during changing cutter, so it is safety and reliable, and convenient for changing cutter.
Abstract:
A system and method for detecting a circular shape from a sequence of ordered points is disclosed. In one embodiment, the method comprises receiving a sequence of ordered points, selecting a subset of the sequence of ordered points, determining if the subset defines a circular shape, and storing an indication of whether or not the subset defines a circular shape. Various metrics for determining if the subset defines a circular shape, which allow for a trade-off between accuracy and complexity, are disclosed.
