Abstract: A magnetic sensor includes a magnetic field conversion unit, a magnetic field detection unit, and two shields. The magnetic field conversion unit includes a plurality of yokes. Each yoke is shaped to be long in a Y direction, and is configured to receive an input magnetic field and output an output magnetic field. The input magnetic field contains an input magnetic field component in a direction parallel to a Z direction, and a magnetic field component in a direction parallel to the Y direction. The output magnetic field contains an output magnetic field component in a direction parallel to an X direction. The magnetic field detection unit generates a detection value according to the output magnetic field component. Each shield has such a shape that its maximum dimension in the Y direction is smaller than its maximum dimension in the X direction.

Abstract: An angle sensor system includes a magnetic field generation unit for generating a rotating magnetic field, and an angle sensor for detecting the rotating magnetic field to generate a detected angle value. The rotating magnetic field contains first and second magnetic field components orthogonal to each other. Each of the first and second magnetic field components contains an ideal magnetic field component, and an error component corresponding to the fifth harmonic of the ideal magnetic field component. The angle sensor includes first and second detection signal generation units. Each of the first and second detection signal generation units includes a magnetic layer whose magnetization direction varies according to the direction of the rotating magnetic field. The magnetic layer is provided with a magnetic anisotropy that is set to reduce an angular error resulting from the error components of the first and second magnetic field components.

Abstract: A magnetic field detection device includes a first soft magnetic body, a second soft magnetic body, and a magnetism detection element. The first soft magnetic body extends to have a first length in a first direction, and has a first width, smaller than the first length, in a second direction. The second direction is substantially orthogonal to the first direction. The second soft magnetic body is disposed to be spaced apart from and face the first soft magnetic body in the first direction, extends to have a second length in the first direction, and has a second width, smaller than the second length, in the second direction. The magnetism detection element is disposed, in the first direction, between the first and second soft magnetic bodies, and extends to have a third length in the first direction and a third width, larger than the third length, in the second direction.

Abstract: An angle sensor includes first and second detection units and an angle detection unit. Each of the first and second detection units generates two detection signals. The first and second detection units are arranged in a positional relationship that establishes predetermined phase relationships among the detection signals they generate. The angle detection unit includes first and second computing circuits and an angle computing unit. The first and second computing circuits generate first and second signals in each of which an error component corresponding to a fifth harmonic contained in the detection signals is reduced. The angle computing unit calculates a detected angle value on the basis of the first and second signals. The angle computing unit performs correction processing for reducing an error occurring in the detected angle value due to an error component corresponding to a third harmonic contained in the detection signals.

Abstract: A displacement detection unit includes first and second sensors, an object, and a calculation section. The object includes first and second regions disposed periodically in a first direction, and performs displacement relative to the first and second sensors in the first direction. The first and second sensors detect first and second magnetic field changes in accordance with the displacement of the object and output the detected first and second magnetic field change as first and second signals, respectively. The first and second signals have different phases. The calculation section performs a calculation of an amount of the displacement of the object in the first direction multiple times per one period corresponding to a time period in which the object performs the displacement by an amount of displacement equivalent to a total of a continuous pair of the first and second regions, on a basis of the first and second signals.
