摘要： The present invention relates to a retrievable medical filter which can be placed in a blood vessel or other body passage. The filter has improved structural features for enhancing its performance, including deployment, filtration and position stability at the desired site, as well as retrievability. The filter may preferably have a hook structure that provides multiple retrieval surfaces, or may be provided with anchors for removably retaining the filter in position. A filter may be designed with one end being customized for retrieval and the other end being customized for position retention, in which case a cartridge may be provided to ensure proper orientation of the filter during delivery.

摘要： A biopsy probe for the collection of at least one soft tissue sample from a surgical patient. The biopsy probe has a frame and an elongated piercing element having a proximal end attached to the distal end of the frame and a sharpened distal end for piercing tissue. The piercing element has a lumen extending at least partially therethrough. The probe also includes an elongated cutter disposed coaxially and slidably within the lumen of the piercing element. The cutter has a distal end for cutting a tissue sample, a proximal end and a body connecting the distal and proximal ends, wherein at least a portion of the body comprises a flexible member.

摘要： A biopsy device which is compatible for use with a magnetic resonance imaging machine. The device includes a non-metallic elongated substantially tubular needle having a distal end for insertion within tissue, a proximal end, and a longitudinal axis therebetween. The needle includes right and left members on either side of the longitudinal axis, where the right and left members each have upper and lower ends including a series of alternating male and female portions. The male portions of the right member mate with the female portions of the left member, and the male portions of the left member mate with the female portions of the right member to securely attach the two members together. The device further includes a port on the elongated needle for receiving a tissue sample.

摘要： A jaw assembly is provided with a pair of jaws which are closed with a flexible, tension member that is pulled by the operator of the instrument. In a preferred embodiment, one of the jaws is pivotally mounted in a slot to the other jaw. A cord, having a loop configuration, is attached to the pivoting jaw and can be pulled to pivot the jaw closed. A second cord can be provided to initially hold the proximal end of the pivoting jaw away from the other jaw until the distal ends of the jaws are closer together. In another embodiment, jaws can be closed in a parallel orientation by rotating two pulleys with threaded shafts engaged with the jaws.

The control lever is pivoted about a fixed axis to a plurality of distinct positions and has a plurality of camming surfaces with linkage means between each camming surface and an associated control device.
