摘要: A muffler unit for a general-purpose engine includes a muffler (40) having a maze of sound-deadening chambers (101, 102, 103) defined therein and an inlet pipe (85) disposed inside the muffler. The inlet pipe has an open end (106) connected to an exhaust port of the engine via an exhaust pipe (43), a closed end (107) opposite to the open end, and perforations (108) provided near the open end and connecting an internal space of the inlet pipe and a first sound-deadening chamber (101). The closed end of the inlet pipe is exposed to the outside air, so that exhaust gasses are cooled when the gasses impinge on the closed end of the inlet pipe.

摘要: An optical information recording apparatus corrects a recording condition for an optical medium having a difference in recording property between the inner and outer peripheries in real time. The optical information recording apparatus obtains an RF signal by using a playback sub beam and retrieves a portion of the RF signal corresponding to a constant output zone of a recording pulse using a gate signal. An average value of the retrieved signal is computed so as to set a reference position in real time. A difference between the top peak value of the retrieved signal and the average value and a difference between the bottom peak value of the retrieved signal and the average value are computed so as to obtain a β value in real time from the on-and-off RF signal affected by the recording pulse that turns on and off.

摘要: In a link type variable stroke engine in which a piston, a crankshaft and an eccentric shaft are linked by a linking mechanism, an oil supply hole for supplying lubricating oil to a position between a connection tubular part of a sub connecting rod and a crank pin is provided in an upper portion of the connection tubular part at a position which is deviated from a direction of application of maximum load applied from the crank pin to an inner surface of the connection tubular part by maximum in-tube pressure, and which is immediately behind a point of application of the maximum load along a direction in which the crank pin rotates relative to the sub connecting rod. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent leak of oil from the oil supply hole and thereby reliably lubricating the position between the connection tubular part of the sub connecting rod and the crank pin by a splash lubrication system.

摘要: The invention provides a method effective in detecting a reproduction signal in real time correction in which correction is simultaneously performed with recording. In this method, a laser beam emitted from a laser diode 110 is divided into a plurality of beam spots by a diffraction grating 114. One of the plurality of beam spots is used as a beam spot for recording, and another beam spot is used as a beam spot for reproduction. Reflected light components obtained from these beam spots are independently detected by a detector 122. A period for which a recording laser beam is in an ON state is referred to as a gate signal, and a mask is put on an RF signal obtained from a beam spot for reproduction, thereby selectively detecting pits reproduced when the recording laser beam is in the ON state.

摘要: A bearing holder (66) having a bearing (67) rotatably supporting a crankshaft (14) is fixed so as to face an opening (11k) of the engine case (11). A gas-liquid separation chamber (83) is formed between a cover member (68) covering the opening (11k) and the bearing holder (66). Therefore, by utilizing the bearing holder (66) as a part of the wall surface of the gas-liquid separation chamber (83), the gas-liquid separation chamber (83) can be partitioned without increasing the number of components and without forming a special wall surface in the engine case (11). Thus, it is possible to reduce the size and weight of the engine case (11), and reduce the cost by simplifying the shape thereof and reducing the number of components. Also, a labyrinth 82 is formed by ribs (66d, 66e, 68a, 68d) projecting from the bearing holder (66) and the cover member (68), and therefore gas-liquid separation can be effectively performed by the labyrinth (82). Thus, it is possible to provide a small light gas-liquid separation device with a small number of components.

摘要: A thin-film magnetic head comprises first and second magnetic layers, a gap layer provided between the first and second magnetic layers, a coupling portion for magnetically coupling the first and second magnetic layers to each other at a distance from a medium facing surface ABS, and a thin-film coil, part of which is disposed between the first and second magnetic layers. The second magnetic layer has a pole portion layer and a yoke portion layer. The thin-film magnetic head further comprises a non-magnetic layer that is in contact with the surface of the pole portion layer farther from the gap layer. The non-magnetic layer prevents the surface of the pole portion layer farther from the gap layer from being damaged during the manufacturing process of the head, and thereby maintains the flatness of the surface.

摘要: It is an object of certain inventive aspects to provide a recording condition closer to an optimum even for a medium unknown to a drive, and more particularly, to provide means for obtaining a preferable recording condition even for a high-speed recording in which conducting a test recording is difficult. In order to accomplish the object, a power and a phase of a recording pulse are simultaneously corrected at predetermined timing, depending on a recording speed or a recording position such as an inner or outer circumference. For instance, a phase shift ΔPhase generated due to a continuing recording from an inner circumference to an outer circumference at ×2 speed is corrected simultaneously with a correction of a power shift at the timing when a recording speed is changed from ×2 to ×4. For the other recording speed, in the same manner as above, a power and a phase shift are simultaneously corrected at every time when a recording speed is changed.

摘要: A thin-film magnetic head comprises an inductive type electromagnetic transducer having a first magnetic pole, a second magnetic pole, and a thin-film coil. A recording shield layer made of a magnetic material is formed on the side of the second magnetic pole opposite from the first magnetic pole. A recording shield gap layer made of a nonmagnetic material is formed between the second magnetic pole and the recording shield layer. By way of the recording shield gap layer, the recording shield layer covers at least both lateral parts of the second magnetic pole on the side of the second magnetic pole facing a recording medium.
