    摘要: A method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display apparatus includes forming at least one assembly for forming a plurality of finished liquid crystal display apparatuses, by opposing two glass substrates to have a space therebetween and sealing a periphery of the space between the two glass substrates by an outer peripheral seal member. Outer surfaces of the two glass substrates are etched by soaking the assembly in an etching solution within an etching bath while maintaining a temperature and a concentration of the etching solution within the etching bath at a substantially constant temperature and at a substantially constant concentration. The etched outer surfaces of the glass substrates are flattened by polishing the outer surfaces of the glass substrates.

    摘要: A pair of polarizing plates are arranged on both the sides of a liquid crystal cell in which liquid crystal molecules are aligned to be twisted, and two biaxial retardation plates serving as color adjusting optical elements are arranged between one of the polarizing plates and the liquid crystal cell. The biaxial retardation plates satisfy n.sub.X >n.sub.Z >ny where n.sub.X, n.sub.y, and n.sub.Z are refractive indexes in a direction in which a maximum refractive index is obtained on the plane of the biaxial retardation plates, a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the maximum refractive index is obtained on the plane, and a direction of thickness, respectively. The positions of maximum refractive index directions serving as the phase delay axes of the biaxial retardation plates are set to obtain a display color having a desired hue. A driving control circuit for changing a voltage applied to a liquid crystal such that the color of exit light, i.e., a display color is changed in accordance with a change in polarized state of light transmitted through the liquid crystal is connected to the liquid crystal cell.
