    摘要: In a computer system that includes a first computer, a second computer, a first storage apparatus storing data in a fixed-length block format used by the second computer, and a backup apparatus connected to the first computer and storing data in a variable-length block format, the present invention provides a backup method for backing up data stored in the first storage apparatus to the backup apparatus. The first computer sends the second computer a request to read data in the fixed-length block format. In response to this request, the second computer reads the fixed-length block format data from the first storage apparatus and transfers this data to the first computer. The first computer converts the transferred fixed-length block format data into variable-length block format data. The converted variable-length block format data is stored in the backup apparatus.

    摘要: The present invention transfers replication logical volumes between and among storage control units in a storage system comprising a plurality of storage control units. To transfer replication logical volumes from a storage control unit to a storage control unit, a virtualization device sets a path to the storage control unit. The storage control unit then prepares a differential bitmap in order to receive access requests. When the preparation is completed, the virtualization device makes access requests to the storage control unit. The storage control unit then hands over the access requests to the storage control unit. Subsequently, the storage control unit performs a process so that the access requests are reflected in a disk device and performs an emergency destage of storing data in a cache memory into disk device. When the emergency destage is ended, the storage control unit connects to an external storage control unit and hands over access requests to the external storage control unit.

    摘要: In a storage subsystem, performance tuning is performed with respect to all of the logical devices including external storage subsystems that are not directly connected to host computers. The physical storage units presented by the external storage subsystems are defined as logical devices of the storage subsystem, and I/O processing requests from the host computers are relayed to the logical devices. At the time of relaying, I/O processing conditions are monitored. When the load of an external storage subsystem is high, then operating conditions of ports and processors are examined. When the load can be reduced by changing the configuration of those ports and processors, the configuration is changed to reduce the load. When the load can not be reduced, data is migrated from a logical device having a high load to a logical device having a sufficient performance.
