Abstract:
A cleaning unit that can remove particles of residual toner remaining on an image carrier after transfer and be incorporated in a process cartridge removably installable to an image forming apparatus, includes a brush roller disposed in contact with the image carrier to remove the residual toner remaining on the image carrier from the image carrier, and a polarity control member disposed in contact with the image carrier to control charge polarities of the residual toner remaining on the image carrier before the residual toner is removed by the brush roller. The polarity control member includes a first surface where the polarity control member contacts the image carrier, a second surface where the polarity control member does not contact the image carrier, and a conductive filler that is not exposed on the first surface that contacts the image carrier.

Abstract:
A charging device including an electron discharging device for forming a latent electrostatic image on an image bearing member and containing an sp3 bonding material and an electroconductive portion.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes an image bearer, a charging device that charges a surface of the image bearer, a latent image forming device that forms a latent image on the image bearer, a developing device that develops the latent image on the image bearer with a spherical toner into a toner image, a transfer device that transfers the toner image to a transfer material, and a cleaning device that removes the spherical toner remaining on the image bearer after the toner image is transferred to the transfer material. The cleaning device including a cleaning roller that removes the spherical toner on the image bearer while rotating and contacting the image bearer and which has a greater coefficient of static friction than the surface of the image bearer. An electric field is formed between the cleaning member and the image bearer by applying a voltage to the cleaning member so that the spherical toner adhered onto the image bearer is electrostatically attracted to the cleaning member. The cleaning member may also include a brush roller having bristles planted in a specific configuration.
Abstract:
A cleaning device of the present invention is configured to remove toner left on an image carrier after the transfer of a toner image from the image carrier to a recording medium. A rotatable cleaning roller contacts the image carrier for removing the toner left on the image carrier. A rotatable brush roller is positioned upstream of the cleaning roller in the direction of rotation of the image carrier and rubs against the surface of the image carrier and that of the cleaning roller. The cleaning device is free from defective cleaning despite the use of spherical, dry toner grains capable of forming high-quality toner images.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes a charging member to be contacted with a rotating photosensitive body so as to charge the photosensitive body, a temperature detection device for detecting temperature of the charging member, and a voltage control device for controlling a voltage to be supplied to the charging member in accordance with a temperature value detected by the temperature detection device. The control device includes a detection temperature read device for reading the detection temperature value detected by the temperature detection device, a voltage calculation device for calculating a voltage to be supplied to the charging member based on the detection temperature value read by the detection temperature read device, and a maintenance device for maintaining a charging voltage as it is, which charging voltage is calculated last time, when a difference between the detection temperature value currently read by the detection temperature read device and the detection temperature value which is read last time by the detection temperature read device has exceeded a preset temperature value.
Abstract:
A dictionary retrieval device is constructed by a conversion character definition form for providing group IDs for character subsets, a character-group ID conversion part for replacing a character with a group ID, an input character string conversion part for converting the input character string input from the input part to an input group ID, a dictionary conversion part for converting a word dictionary to a converted word dictionary defined by a notation group ID string, and a dictionary retrieval part for retrieving the converted word dictionary by the input group ID string. The dictionary retrieval device can retrieve a word from a dictionary which could not have been retrieved from a dictionary due to an input error, in the past, by regarding elements of character set defined by a conversion character definition form as the same element.
Abstract:
An image projection device includes a projector configured to project an image; and an operation unit configured to receive an operation performed by an operator. The projector is in a projecting state while the operation unit is receiving a pressing operation performed by the operator, and the projector is in a non-projecting state while the operation unit is not receiving a pressing operation performed by the operator.
Abstract:
A cleaning apparatus for removing charged particles includes a cleaning brush and a recovery unit. The cleaning brush removes the charged particles from an object by attracting the charged particles having positive and negative polarity. The recovery unit for recovering the charged particles from the cleaning brush includes a recovery member, a first charge applicator, a second charge applicator, and a voltage control unit. The recovery member is supplied with a voltage to attract the charged particles. The recovery member has a core and a surface layer. The first charge applicator applies a voltage to the surface layer of the recovery member. The second charge applicator applies a voltage to the core of the recovery member. The voltage control unit controls a polarity of the voltage to be applied by the first and second charge applicators depending on a polarity of the charged particles to be recovered.
