Abstract:
A mattress component and method of making a mattress component is provided. The mattress component includes first and second layers to be assembled in a mattress over which a user will lie. The first layer of a first material has different properties than the second layer of a second material. The second layer has a surface underlying the surface of the first layer. Mating patterns are formed in the surfaces of the first and second layers. The mating patterns in the first and second layers are designed to substantially match the surfaces of the first and second layers with each other. The mating patterns in the first and second layers result in a greater effective thickness in one of the layers in areas corresponding to a position where hips and shoulders of the user will rest on the mattress, and a lesser effective thickness in other areas.
Abstract:
Mattresses that have a point of attachment to an adjustable bed frame that provides a pivot point about which the mattress can pivot when rising to an inclined position. In one embodiment the mattress has a pivoting member extending transversely through the mattress and provides a pivot point about which one portion of the mattress can pivot in relation to another portion of the mattress. By placing the member about midway through the mattress, one half of the mattress can pivot relative to the other half of the mattress, while the center point of the mattress is held in place. By pinning the member to the frame, the center of the mattress is held against the frame even when one portion of the mattress is inclined relative to the other. This prevents or ameliorates the mattress' tendency to lift off the frame when the frame pivots into an inclined position.
Abstract:
A bedding arrangement having a first pillow section and a second mattress section. The first pillow section has an interior core section contained within a first cover. The second mattress section includes an interior core section contained within a second cover. A connection extends between and attaches the first pillow section and second mattress section. A method of making the bedding arrangement comprises attaching together the first cover and the second cover along a common edge. The pillow core and the mattress core are then placed within the interior and the covers are closed to contain the cores.
Abstract:
A portable cushion apparatus for positioning between a user and a support surface. The portable cushion apparatus includes a plurality of pad members each having a first portion and a second portion. Each of the pad members is movable between a folded position and an unfolded position. The plurality of pad members includes a first end pad member, A second end pad member, and a plurality of middle pad member. A flexible first coupler is attached to and extends away from a first side of the first end pad member. A flexible second coupler is attached to and extends away from a second side of the second end pad member. The first and second couplers are attached to first and second sides of the plurality of middle pad members respectively. The pad members have a plurality of handles for grasping onto by a hand of a user.
Abstract:
A mattress provides side support that reduces the likelihood that a person will accidentally roll off and also provides increased comfort to a person sitting on the side of the mattress. The mattress includes a top layer, a bottom layer and a buffer layer between the top and bottom layers. A pair of support members are placed in corresponding cavities near the opposite sides of the top layer. The support members are firmer than the top layer and are arranged to support the top layer and provide reduced compression of the mattress when a weight is placed on the upper surface of the top layer near the support members.
Abstract:
A mattress or bedding product is covered with a topper comprising individual tubes, each of which is filled with shredded foam/fiber material. In one embodiment, the topper has a foam layer having a number of arcuate-shaped cradles in which are placed the individual tubes. The shredded foam/fiber materials may be modified as required to provide different density and/or firmness characteristics to different portions of the product.

A multi-stage adjustable double-person spring bed mattress structure including a bed tail pad, a fixed bed head pad, a bed face and a bed cover. Two pairs of U-shaped supporting frames are respectively oppositely passed through the clearances between the adjacent longitudinal springs under the metal rods near two lateral sides and the central portion. Two rotating devices are respectively disposed on opposite inner sides of rear ends of the connecting rods under the four U-shaped supporting frames. Two driving splines are passed through the central holes of the above members. When the driving spline is rotated by a rotary disk disposed on one side of the fixed bed pad and having an eccentrical handle, whereby the rotating tube is rotated and inclinedly moved up and down. An insertion seat having an insertion hole is connected on the center of the upper portion of the movable bed head pad, whereby two insertion legs of the pillow racks can be inserted in. By means of the rotary disk on outer side of the driving spline, the rotating device is rotated to drive the movable bed head pad to freely ascend or descend by any angle for lying horizontally or by other resting angle, the pillow can be two-stage 90 degrees rotated to lean on the movable bed head pad as a pillow or outward rotate and stretch into a pillow.

A mattress assembly system tailored by an individual whereby the individual may select the specific components which will be assembled into an individualized mattress assembly. The system includes a selected comfort module selected by an individual from a group of interchangeable comfort modules and a selected support module for supporting the individual selected by the individual from a group of interchangeable support modules. A module carrier carries the selected comfort and support modules once they have been selected.
Abstract:
A hybrid mattress has two or more individual support structures such as springs and a unitary comfort casing. The comfort casing is formed with two or more internal pouches each adapted to snugly receive one of the individual support structures and to hold the support structures in a planar, contiguous manner. The individual support means can be selected to have different load bearing characteristics from each other, thereby providing a continuous mattress with different support and comfort capabilities for different occupants.

A foldable bed is movable between an unfolded position, in which interconnected seat, cavity, and body sections are substantially horizontally aligned and of substantially uniform depth, and a folded position, in which the body section is horizontally disposed, the seat section is horizontally disposed and overlies said body section, the cavity section is generally upright and extends between the body and seat sections. In the folded position, the seat section of the mattress is collapsible, and the cavity section of the mattress is noncollapsible. The bed frame can include a leg that is a space away from the frame in the folded position that compresses a mattress head section, thereby forming spaced within which collapsible springs of the seat section can reside. The bed can include springs having upper, intermediate, and lower runs, wherein the upper and lower runs include offset portions extending in opposite directions that are generally orthogonal to a plane defined by the spring intermediate run. The bed can also include grid wires to which such springs are interconnected that have rotation-limiting means that interact with the offset portions of the spring.
