    摘要: A method of correcting the thickness variations of a rolling plate by controlling at least one of the top or bottom backup rolls of a rolling mill. The method further comprises an off-line eccentricity identification method, and an on-line eccentricity compensation method. The off-line eccentricity identification method is utilized for establishing an eccentricity vector which stores the eccentricity values of the top and the bottom backup rolls. The on-line eccentricity compensation method is utilized for generating eccentricity compensation signals using the eccentricity vector established by the foregoing off-line eccentricity identification method, and for transferring the eccentricity compensation signals to an automatic gauge control (AGC) system for compensating the backup roll eccentricities and thus correcting the thickness variations of a rolling plate.

    摘要: The invention provides a new apparatus for the detection, measurement and display of roll and roll bearing eccentricity in a rolling mill, and also an apparatus for correction of such eccentricities. The apparatus comprises individual narrow band-pass filter modules, each dedicated to the detection and development of a signal corresponding to one eccentricity, such as fundamental back-up roll eccentricity, fundamental work roll eccentricity and fundamental bearing eccentricity, or any individual harmonics of the fundamentals that are of sufficient value to merit display and corrective action. The resultant signals from the different modules are summed and applied to a display, or employed to take corrective action. Such dedicated modules can be made relatively cheaply and are stable requiring little maintenance, as compared to the more complex equipment proposed hitherto, requiring shaft encoders and/or high speed computers. Preferably each filter module comprises a first frequency controllable phase locked narrow band filter which removes as much as possible of the extraneous "noise" of the rolling pressure signal, and a second matched filter which is able to operate rapidly with the cleaner signal provided to it by the first filter.

    摘要: A roll eccentricity control system for rolling apparatus in which a period of each cycle corresponding to one revolution of the roll is divided into a plurality of sections, a deviation in thickness of the rolled material in each section is sampled during the rolling operation, the sampled deviations in the respective sections for at least one period are averaged to determine a period average deviation and the deviations sampled during plural periods are averaged separately for the respective sections to determine section average deviations of the respective sections which are stored as basic data, the period average deviation is subtracted from the section average deviations and the resultant differences for the respective sections are stored as basic patterns, the basic data and the basic pattern stored for each section are readout at a suitable timing to be used for producing a reduction position control signal for that section, which is adapted to compensate the thickness variation of the rolled material when rolled under that section.

    摘要: A method and apparatus is disclosed for eccentricity correction in a rolling mill, in which prior to rolling, the eccentricity of the back-up rolls is measured and recorded both initially and each time the back-up rolls are changed. In an analog loop, constant roll gap is maintained by bidirectionally displacing the back-up rolls so as to maintain constant roll force in accordance with a reference roll force signal, the displacements being such as to neutralize the measured and recorded eccentricity. In a digital feedback loop, controlled by a digital computer, roll force is maintained constant in accordance with changes in the gauge of the work product, with the displacement of the back-up rolls producing a change in roll opening. The analog and digital control loops are cooperatively combined, so that the change in roll opening resulting from digital control, produces a new roll force reference for the analog loop. Effectively then, the intercooperation of analog and digital loops simultaneously produces roll eccentricity and gauge change compensation.

    摘要: In a four high rolling mill having two powered working rolls and a pair of backup rolls, the backup rolls are synchronized by controlling the drive motors to force differential slippage between the working rolls and the strip being processed through the mill. Angular position comparison means senses and lack of synchronism of the backup rolls and produces a control signal which differentially adjusts the torques produced by the drive motors. Synchronization of the backup rolls reduces roll force variations caused by eccentricity of rolls.
