摘要: Methods and apparatus for supplying an ink mist to an electrostatic printing head or the like including means for continual replenishment, density monitoring, and density adjustment of the ink supply, and means for generating a highly uniform mist of ink droplets. An ion stream is modulated in accordance with images or characters to be printed. Ink mist is introduced into the ion stream. Ink particles impinged upon by ions become charged and are accelerated toward a receiving medium by an overall accelerating field. Ink not utilized by the printing mechanism is returned to the ink supply for recycling. The composition of the ink supply is regulated by means of continuous monitoring of the ink density; automatically controlling additions of the ink constituents functions to maintain the ink density at a given level. The ink recycling system includes a precipitator to convert the unused ink mist into liquid ink and air. Ink solvent vapors are removed from that air by a two-stage condenser and are returned to the ink supply. Ink mist is generated by a plurality of ultrasonic transducers located beneath the surface of a supply of liquid ink. To enhance uniformity, the mist is forced from a first chamber through a narrow aperture into a second chamber before leaving the generator. Mesh screens filter oversized droplets from the mist.

摘要: A conductive protection board for protecting an aperture board from dust is mounted in an ink mist type high speed printer. The ink mist type printer operates on the principle that an ion stream modulated by an aperture board according to the pattern of the character to be printed, charges the ink mist, which is then attracted by an electric field to the surface of the paper. If an aperture of said aperture board is obstructed, a portion of the printed character will not be evident. In order to avoid the obstruction of an aperture the conductive protection board which has a plurality of apertures, each of which corresponds to each aperture of the aperture board, is placed very close to said aperture board.

摘要: A test system for detecting the presence of an obstructed aperture in an ink mist type printer is disclosed. The ink mist type printer operates on the principle that an ion stream modulated by an aperture board according to the pattern of the character to be printed, charges the ink mist, which is then attracted by an electric field to the surface of the paper. If an aperture of said aperture board is obstructed a portion of the printed character will not be evident. In order to detect the aperture, a conductive board is inserted between the aperture board and the paper, and an amplitude and/or pattern of an electric current in the conductive board due to the ion stream shows the presence and location of the obstructed aperture.

摘要: A printing assembly has at least one frame, which frame has at least two side walls, between which two side walls a transport path, provided for the transport of printing material, at least partially extends. At least one transport direction is defined by the transport path provided for the transport of printing material. The printing assembly has at least two cross members which are spaced apart from each other in the transport direction and which each extend from one of the side walls to another of the side walls. Each of the at least two cross members has at least one first cross beam and at least one second cross beam spaced apart therefrom, which jointly bound at least one interior of the particular cross member at least partially in and against the transport direction. At least one component of one of a gas transport device and at least one additional device for supplying at least one printing head with one of energy and operating media and printing fluid and data and at least one gas and at least one inner device for one of cleaning and maintaining and covering at least one printing head is arranged in the at least one interior in each case. The printing assembly has at least one supporting body which can be moved, in relation to the frame, in at least one parking direction and which extends at least in a transverse direction between side walls. At least one printing head is arranged on the at least one supporting body and can be moved jointly with the at least one supporting body.

摘要: A method of digitally printing a solder mask. The method includes providing a solder mask ink composition including: 1) a resin and 2) a solvent in an amount of at least 20% by weight relative to the total weight of the solder mask ink composition. The composition has a viscosity that is less than 1000 cps at a shear rate of 10 s−1 and a temperature of 25° C. An aerosol stream is generated from the solder mask ink composition with a pneumatic atomizer using an atomization gas. The aerosol stream is directed through a nozzle and focused using a sheath gas onto a substrate while changing the position of the nozzle with respect to the substrate to selectively deposit a solder mask pattern. The solder mask pattern is cured.
