    Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a method and an apparatus for marking an electric wire at a low cost. An apparatus 1 for marking an electric wire forms a band mark 21 on a part of an outer face 5a of the electric wire 3. The band mark 21 is formed along the entire circumference of the part of the outer face 5a of the electric wire 3. The marking apparatus 1 tightens the electric wire 3 in a state where a tensile force is applied in a longitudinal direction. The marking apparatus 1 includes a nozzle 35 for injecting coloring agent toward an uppermost position 10 of the outer face 5a of the electric wire 3. The nozzle 35 has an open end 42 which is opposed to the electric wire 3 and capable of passing the coloring agent. A straight line L extending between a center C1 of the open end 42 and a center C2 of the electric wire 3 lies along a vertical direction.

    Abstract: A ring-mark printing device for identifying electrical cables includes a printer box having a feed axis and configured to pass an electrical cable along the feed axis. The printer box includes an ink shield including a concentrically arranged double structured tube. The double structured tube includes an outer tubular body, and an inner tubular body, the inner tubular body being held such that it can freely slide within the outer tubular body. The outer tubular body includes outer ink-orifices at positions facing marking drums. The inner tubular body also includes inner ink-orifices. By sliding the inner tubular body, an inner ink-orifice can be joined with an outer ink-orifice, so that the electrical cable is ready to be printed with ink ejected from the marking drum, or the inner orifice can be moved away from the outer ink-orifice, so that the electrical cable is impeded from printing. In this manner, production of substandard electrical cable is greatly reduced, and running rates of the production line is improved. Further, the operation process is suitably adapted to a small lot production.

    Abstract: A band marking apparatus for producing marking bands at spaced intervals along an insulated wire employs two ink jet dispensers located on opposite sides of the moving wire at longitudinally spaced stations. The dispensers are driven in an oscillatory manner by means of a tachometer engaged with the wire so that the marking bands are produced at uniform intervals regardless of the speed of movement of the wire past the dispensers. To insure proper registration of the band segments produced by the respective dispensers on opposite sides of the wire, an electronic controller for the dispensers includes an adjustable phase selector to regulate the phase relationship of the oscillating dispensers. The controller also includes other circuitry to maintain linear signal relationships and to center the oscillations of the respective dispensers on the wire.

A proportioning valve operated by the moving cable controls the material applied to the nozzle. The nozzle includes two spring-like plates which open under pressure.
