Abstract:
A clutch apparatus is equipped with two clutch structures having a clutch drum therein. A driven plate and a piston are provided in the clutch drum of each clutch structure, and a primary coned disc spring and a secondary coned disc spring, which are ring-shaped, are provided between the driven plate and the piston. A flat portion is formed on an inner peripheral portion of a convex surface of the primary coned disc spring, and the flat portion can come into contact with a counter member first when a load is applied. A load in a flat condition due to elastic deformation is adjusted by the flat portion so as to be a desirable value. Blanks and of the primary coned disc spring and the secondary coned disc spring can be obtained from one sheet of material having the same thickness. In this case, the flat portion is formed by press forming on an inner peripheral portion of the blank in view of the shape thereof after bending forming is performed.

A method for determining deterioration of a dry clutch mounted between an engine and a motor of a hybrid vehicle includes determining whether an entry condition to determine the deterioration of the dry clutch is satisfied. Roughness of the dry clutch is determined when the entry condition is satisfied. A deviation between the roughness of the dry clutch and a reference value is calculated, and the deviation is compared with a threshold value. A roughness counter of the dry clutch is increased when the deviation is larger than the threshold value. The roughness counter of the dry clutch is compared with a boundary value. It is determined that the dry clutch deteriorates when the roughness counter of the dry clutch is larger than the boundary value.

A clutch carrier assembly for a transmission includes a clutch carrier, an outer race, a bearing, an inner race, and a one-way clutch. The clutch carrier is arranged for driving engagement with a plurality of clutch plates. The outer race is fixedly connected to the carrier and has an inner circumferential surface. The bearing has an outer circumferential surface aligned with the inner circumferential surface. The inner race is arranged for driving engagement with a transmission shaft. The one-way clutch is disposed radially between the outer race and the inner race.

A magnet holder assembly suitable for use as an eddy current drive of a clutch includes magnet holder means for securing one or more magnets to a rotatable component of the clutch, a first permanent magnet radially retained by the magnet holder means, wherein the first permanent magnet has a beveled edge configured to mate with the magnet holder means, and a second permanent magnet radially retained by the magnet holder means. The first permanent magnet and the second permanent magnet have magnetic orientations arranged substantially opposite one another.

Adapter rings for attaching automotive clutch assemblies to different types of flywheels are disclosed. A single adapter ring may be installed on different types of stock or aftermarket flywheels. In one embodiment, a multiple-disc clutch assembly may be mounted onto the adapter ring. The multiple-disc clutch unit may fit inside a stock bellhousing to enable the user to utilize the stock clutch release mechanism and simultaneously increase the holding power capability while maintaining light pedal effort. Aftermarket replacement OEM clutch units including the adapter ring may be used with higher horsepower engines in automotive vehicles with manual transmissions.

A preassembled module for a motor vehicle transmission to be arranged between an engine block and gearbox is disclosed. A support element has elements for fixing to the engine block and/or the gearbox. A clutch bearing is mounted on the support element for actuating a clutch. An intermediate rotatable shaft has a splined end to collaborate with a hub of a friction disk of the clutch, and the intermediate shaft collaborates with the support element via a bearing supporting and guiding the rotation of the intermediate shaft with respect to the support element. An electric machine has an external stator supported by the support element and a rotor having a central opening through which the intermediate shaft passes. The rotor rotates as one with the intermediate shaft. A reaction plate of a clutch, on the gearbox side, which rotates as one with the intermediate shaft.

A spring is formed in the bow spring channel, and fixed by a counter-component, wherein the first and second component and counter-component are made of sheet metal, characterised in that the second component and at least one of the following contact components: a) the first component and b) the counter-component have common contact areas, into which the second component and the at least one contact component run vertically to the rotation axis, and in which the edges thereof for centering lie one against the other, at least in some sections.

A rotational coupling device for use as a clutch and/or brake is provided with improved retention of a drive key during shipping, assembly, and operation of the device. The device includes a rotor disposed about an input shaft. The input shaft is disposed about a rotational axis and the rotor and input shaft define opposed keyways. A key is disposed in the keyways and rotatably couples the rotor and input shaft. An armature is disposed about the axis and coupled to an output member and configured for selective engagement with the rotor. In one embodiment, the key and a support member in the device are shaped in a complementary fashion to limit radial and axial movement of the key. In another embodiment, an axial end of the key or rotor is deformed to axially align the axial ends of the key and rotor and limit axial movement of the key.

A pivot ring for a clutch assembly which has a first annular segment, a second annular segment, and a radial segment. The first annular segment has a first face on a front side of the pivot ring and the second annular segment has a second face, predominately opposing the first face, on a back side of the ring. The radial segment is disposed between the first annular segment and the second annular segment, connecting the first annular segment and the second annular segment. The first annular segment, the second annular segment, or both the first annular segment and the second annular segment can include axial protrusions with arcuately shaped pivot portions. Preferably, in the clutch assembly, the pivot ring is disposed between the diaphragm spring and the pressure plate, allowing for rotational freedom between the pressure plate and the diaphragm spring.
