    摘要: An apparatus and method for enabling the transport of a higher line rate time-multiplexed data signals (e.g., Ethernet at 10 Gb/s) at a lower line rate (e.g., SONET OC-192) and for regenerating the higher line rate time-multiplexed data signals at the receiving end. At a transmitter end, a data stream compression apparatus removes a predetermined portion of non-unique, invariant content of the higher line rate data stream thereby generating the lower line rate data stream which is transmitted over a communication link to the receiver end. At the receiver end, a data stream expansion apparatus adds back the missing predetermined portion of non-unique, invariant content to the lower line rate data stream thereby regenerating the higher line rate data stream. A data compression multiplexer apparatus is formed by combining a plurality of the data stream compression apparatuses with a data multiplexer. A data expansion demultiplexer apparatus is formed by combining a data demultiplexer with a plurality of the data stream expansion apparatuses.

    摘要: A method for operating a mobile station that includes the steps of, prior to transmitting a burst in a last frame before entering a discontinuous transmission (DTX) mode, generating a message word that indicates that the mobile station is about to enter the DTX mode; using a predetermined generator polynomial to produce an error detection word from the message word; and combining the message word and the error detection word into a DTX Trailer word. The method further includes the steps of convolutionally encoding the DTX Trailer word; interleaving the DTX Trailer word with unused bits of a slot containing a speech or a signalling word; and transmitting the interleaved DTX Trailer word to a base station. In a presently preferred embodiment the message word has a length of eight bits, the error detection word is an eight bit CRC that is appended to the message word to form the DTX Trailer word, and the DTX Trailer word is error protected using a rate null convolutional encoder. The mobile station may periodically combine a Comfort Noise Parameter message with a MAHO-related Channel Quality Measurement message and transmit the combined messages to the base station while in the DTX_Low state.

The first pilot carrier has an instantaneous frequency that is a fraction of the sample rate of the first transceiver (VDSL_LT) and is orthogonal to other carriers used in the multi-carrier communication system. The second pilot carrier has a mean frequency that is a fraction of the time division duplexing frame rate and is also orthogonal to the other carriers used in the multi-carrier communication system. The second pilot carrier is different from the first pilot carrier.
