A re-programmable non-volatile memory system, such as a flash EEPROM system, having its memory cells grouped into blocks of cells that are simultaneously erasable is operated in a manner to level out the wear of the individual blocks through repetitive erasing and re-programming. This may be accomplished without use of counts of the number of times the individual blocks experience erase and re-programming but such counts can optionally aid in carrying out the wear leveling process. Individual active physical blocks are chosen to be exchanged with those of an erased block pool in a predefined order.

A self-propelled concrete finishing trowel has a power steering control system that steers the machine by tilting the driven shaft(s) of the rotor assembly or assemblies of the machine without requiring the imposition of fatiguing actuating forces by the machine's operator. The steering control system includes at least one electric actuator, such as a ball screw actuator, coupled to each rotor assembly of the machine and controlled by an operator-manipulated controller. The controller preferably includes at least one, and possibly two, joysticks that can be manipulated by the operator to steer the machine in the direction of joystick motion and preferably at a speed that is proportional to the magnitude of joystick movement. In the typical case in which the machine is steered by pivoting a gearbox of at least one rotor assembly about two axes, a separate actuator is provided for each axis of gearbox pivoting. The resultant machine is easy to operate, lightweight, and exhibits little risk of high-pressure fluid spills.

A window regulator assembly comprising a window panel, a track, a slider member, a slider moving assembly including a drive assembly and a coupling assembly. The track is constructed and arranged to guide the window panel during movement of the window panel between opened and closed positions. The slider member is constructed and arranged to be movable along the track between a first position wherein the window panel assumes the closed position and a second position wherein the window panel assumes the open position. The slider moving assembly is constructed and arranged to move the slider member between the first and second position. The coupling assembly of the slider moving assembly is constructed and arranged to couple an output movement of the drive assembly to the slider member. The drive assembly includes a drivable input structure and a driven output structure, which structures are rotatable about a common axis. The coupling assembly is connected with the output structure to receive the output of the output structure, thereby enabling the coupling assembly to couple the output movement of the drive assembly to the slider member. The drive assembly includes roller and spring members disposed within a housing and constructed and arranged to prevent movement of the output structure upon predetermined external force being applied thereto via the coupling assembly. The output structure has ramp surfaces each converging toward the housing. Each of the ramp surfaces frictionally engages an associated one of the rollers, the rollers being biased by the spring members in a converging surface direction towards the converging surfaces between the ramp surfaces and the housing. The rollers are thus biased into wedging relation between the ramp surfaces and the housing. Friction between the ramp surfaces and the associated rollers during application of the predetermined external force to the output structure urges rolling movement of the rollers in the converging surface direction and into further wedging relation between the ramp surfaces and the housing.

The present invention is a window regulator mechanism for vertically moving a window panel mounted within a motor vehicle door. The mechanism comprises an elongated guide rail member mounted within the vehicle door and having a base portion with a pair of side flange portions. A first of the pair of side flange portions has a nose portion extending laterally outwardly therefrom. A second of the pair of side flange portions has a convex exterior surface. A window moving structure engages the window panel and has a base member and a pair of side leg portions extending from opposing sides thereof. One of the side leg portions has a nose-receiving groove formed in an inwardly facing surface thereof. The window moving structure is slidably mounted on the guide rail member. A manually operable actuating mechanism is constructed to slidably move the window moving structure vertically along the guide rail member. The nose portion of the guide rail member is received within the nose-receiving groove of the window moving structure and the convex exterior surface of the guide rail member is slidably engaged with an inwardly facing surface of another of the side leg portions of the window moving structure opposite the nose-receiving groove such that (1) relative pivotal movement between the guide rail member and the window moving structure about a fixed pivot axis extending longitudinally through the nose portion is permitted and (2) relative movement between the guide rail member and the window moving structure in a radial direction with respect to the fixed pivot axis is substantially restricted to thereby reduce vibrations which occur as a result of forcibly moving the vehicle door into closing engagement with a motor vehicle body.

A monolithic sealing load-bearing retaining wall is constructed using precast concrete bin-type modules stacked in rows. Each module has a front wall, a partition wall spaced from the front wall, at least two spaced apart front connecting walls extending between the front wall and the partition wall, at least two spaced apart rear connecting walls extending from the rear of the partition wall, and stabilizing means extending between the rear connecting walls. The partition wall preferably is formed integrally with the front connecting walls, which provide openings for horizontally extending reinforcing members in each row of modules. The front walls and partition walls of the stacked modules serve as forms for concrete poured in the spaces between them. Upon curing, the poured concrete integrates with the front walls, partition walls, associated portions of the front connecting walls, and the reinforcing members to create a monolithic sealing load-bearing wall capable of supporting bridge girders and the like and of preventing water leakage through the wall in either direction. The stabilizing means can be metal sheets or high-strength polymer webs inserted through slots in the rear connecting walls.

The support member has a front end portion, that is connected by a hinge to one end of the face member, and a rear end portion, that is connected to one end of the anchor member, either by a tongue-and-slot arrangement or by another hinge. The wall units can be cast straight, thus simplifying the design and reducing the space occupied by the mold. The wall units can also be transported and stored in the straight condition to save space. At the job site, the units are quickly and easily folded into an open bin-like form for placement side-by-side to construct a retaining wall.

Each of the end walls is divided vertically into a first fixed panel and a second adjustable panel. The old can be set up to produce a barrier section that accommodates any difference in grade levels between the separated roadway lanes, within a preselected range, by adjusting the height of each second end panel relative to the adjacent first end panel and by adjusting the height of the movable sidewall to match the second end panels. All adjustments are made by means of simple jack screws. The end walls and the movable sidewall are mounted on hinged frames that can be swung open to facilitate removing a section casting from the mold.
