The midplane includes a plurality of vias extending from the first side to the second side, with the vias providing first signal launches on the first side and second signal launches on the second side. The first signal launches are provided in a plurality of rows, with each row having first signal launches along a first line and first signal launches along a second line substantially parallel to the first line. The second signal launches are provided in a plurality of columns, with each column having second signal launches along a third line and second signal launches along a fourth line substantially parallel to the third line.

摘要： In one embodiment of the invention, there is disclosed an electrical connector connectable to a printed circuit board, the electrical connector having an insulative housing including side walls and a base. The electrical connector also includes signal conductors and ground conductors. Each of the signal conductors and ground conductors has a first contact end connectable to the printed circuit board, a second contact end, and an intermediate portion therebetween that is disposed in the base of the insulative housing. The signal conductors and the ground conductors are arranged in a plurality of rows, with each row having signal conductors and ground conductors. For each of the plurality of rows, there is a corresponding ground strip positioned adjacent thereto disposed in the base of the insulative housing. And the ground strip is electrically connected to the ground conductors of the row.

摘要： There is disclosed a two-piece electrical connector assembly having a first electrical connector and a second electrical connector. The first electrical connector includes a plurality of first signal conductors disposed along first and second sides of a first insulative housing and first ground plates disposed along the first and second sides of the first insulative housing and positioned adjacent the plurality of first signal conductors. The first electrical connector defines a slot for receiving an edge of a first printed circuit board. The second electrical connector includes a plurality of second signal conductors disposed along first and second sides of a second insulative housing and second ground plates disposed along the first and second sides of the second insulative housing and positioned adjacent the plurality of second signal conductors. Each of the second ground plates has a surface with a first edge and a second edge, at least one of the first edge or the second edge being bent in the direction toward the corresponding second signal conductor. When the first electrical connector and the second electrical connector are mated, the first signal conductors and corresponding second signal conductors are substantially enclosed and shielded by the first and second ground plates.

The connector is made of modules that have a plurality of pairs of signal conductors with a first signal path and a second signal path. Each signal path has a pair of contact portions, and an interim section extending between the contact portions. For each pair of signal conductors, a first distance between the interim sections is less than a second distance between the pair of signal conductors and any other pair of signal conductors of the plurality. Embodiments are shown that increase routability.

摘要： A high speed, high density electrical connector. The connector is assembled from wafers. Each wafer is formed by molding a first dielectric housing over a shield plate. Signal contacts are inserted into the first dielectric housing and a second housing is overmolded on the first housing. Features are employed to lock the first and second housings together with the shield plate to provide a mechanically robust subassembly. The connector as formed has a good electrical properties, including precise impedance control and low cross talk.

摘要： A modular connector system for interconnecting printed circuit boards includes a first connector having an insulative housing supporting an array of blade-shaped contacts and a second connector having a complementary array of beam-shaped contacts. Preferably, each beam-shaped contact includes substantially independent coplanar beams which, in use, contact a common surface of a respective blade-shaped contact to provide multiple points of contact. The second connector includes a plurality of modules stacked in parallel. Each module includes a shield plate having an insulative receptacle attached at one end and a row of signal conductors, each having a beam-shaped contact at one end. Each insulative receptacle has a first side in which cavities are provided to receive the beam-shaped contacts of the signal conductor. Each insulative receptacle further includes a second, opposite side in which holes are formed in substantial alignment with the cavities for receiving the blade-shaped contacts of the first connector.

摘要： An electrical connector assembly used with a daughter board and a back plane that protects the daughter board and the electrical connectors from damage during use. The assembly includes mounting hardware that is attached to the daughter board to prevent it from bending when a high insertion force is used to plug the daughter board onto the back plane. The mounting hardware also prevents the electrical connectors from damage by distributing the insertion force evenly across the connectors. The assembly also includes a protective cover that is attached to the electrical connectors. The protective cover encloses the signal contacts of the electrical connectors that are attached to the daughter board, and swings away automatically to expose the signal contacts when the daughter board is plugged onto the back plane.

摘要： An electrical connector assembly 1 for mounting on a printed circuit board, has terminals 17 for interconnecting with traces on the printed circuit board. The assembly 1 comprises a housing 4 with a mounting face 8 and a mating face 7 perpendicular to the mounting face 8. The housing has contact receiving passages 9, which extend rearward from the mating face 7 to the mounting face 8. Further included is a plurality of receptacle contacts 6 each adapted to be received within respective contact passages 9. Each receptacle contact 6 comprises an electrically conductive shell 12 which is adapted to be received within a respective contact passage 9. The receptacle contact 6 further includes a dielectric insert 11 having center bore 20 and adapted to be received and secured within each of the respective conductive shells 3. Each receptacle contact 6 further includes signal carrying center contact 10 pressed into the bore 20 of the dielectric insert 11. The signal carrying contact 10 comprises a finger-shaped mating section 13 and a compliant clip section 14 with arc shaped solder terminal 17 for interconnection with respective trace on the printed circuit board.
