Abstract:
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining a common interests associated with a group of users according to activity information obtained for the group of users, providing a first media service during the consuming of the media content to first equipment of a remainder of the group of users where the first media service is selected according to a first common interest, and providing one of the first media service or a second media service during the consuming of the media content to second equipment of a subset of the group of users according to a conflict resolution, where the second media service is selected according to the second common interest, and where the conflict resolution is based on determining a stronger interest, between the first and second common interests, that is associated with each member of the subset of the group of users. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and apparatuses may use machine-to-machine communication to provide customized media in response to an autonomous detection of an event, such as a celebration, emergency, or security event. A method may include receiving a request in response to an autonomous detection of an event, whereby the request includes information about the event. Media appropriate for the event may be determined based on the information about the event. The media appropriate for the event may be further adapted according to information on a destination device and users of the destination device. Instructions are then provided to deliver the media appropriate for the event to the destination device.
Abstract:
An intelligent decision engine is configured on a mobile device that includes rules and criteria that the engine uses to determine whether to allow the mobile device to engage in M2M communications with an M2M device. The criteria may be based on user groups, location of the mobile device, privacy zones that may or may not include the M2M device, “black” and/or “white” access lists, time of day, traffic on a wireless link to a wireless network, etc. If the communication meets all applicable criteria it is permitted to commence, and if not, it is blocked.
Abstract:
A method that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, mapping image pixels of media content to a first portion of display pixels of a display to create mapped pairs having a mapped image pixel and a mapped display pixel, where the display has a at least one of a greater number of horizontal or vertical pixels than the media content and where, for each mapped pair, one or more values associated with the mapped image pixel are assigned to the mapped display pixel, assigning blended mapped values to unmapped display pixels in a second portion of the display pixels, where, for each unmapped display pixel, the blended mapped value is a statistical compilation of a plurality of the one or more values assigned to the mapped display pixels that are adjacent to the unmapped display pixels, and presenting the mapped and unmapped display pixels at the display. The method includes other embodiments.
Abstract:
System, methods, and devices may provide alerts, such as emergency alerts, using machine-to-machine communications. A method may include receiving a state of a mammal associated with a device, receiving a state of an environment that is approximate to the location of the mammal associated with the device, determining a likelihood of a harmful activity based on the aforementioned states, and automatically sending alert message based on the determined likelihood of the harmful activity.
Abstract:
A method and system for managing M2M traffic in a network is provided. The M2M device sends a message that includes a machine identity for the M2M device. A query is submitted to a database that correlates the machine identity with a QoS parameter or a priority. The message is assigned to one of a plurality of input queues based on the assigned QoS parameter or priority. Each input queue is associated with a delay period so that the message is held in the queue for a period less than the delay period.
Abstract:
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving status change information from a first communication device of a first user over a network; adjusting a user profile of a second user responsive to the status change information; and providing the status change information to a group of second communication devices of the second user to cause the group of second communication devices to adjust operational parameters according to the status change information. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract:
A system that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, dividing a media content item into a plurality of media content segments, at each media content segment of the plurality of media content segments, applying motion estimation between at least two video frames of the media content segment to determine a content weight for the media content segment, determining a bit rate for the media content segment according to the determined content weight for the media content segment, and encoding the media content segment at the determined bit rates to generate a data stream for the media content segment, whereby a plurality of data streams for the plurality of media content segments of the media content are generated, and transmitting the plurality of data streams for the plurality of media content segments of the media content to the one or more media devices. Other embodiments are disclosed.
