摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image holding member for forming a toner image, and a transfer roller for transferring the toner image formed on the image holding member onto a recording paper sheet. The absolute value of (.DELTA. log R)/.DELTA.V[(log .OMEGA.)/kV] representing the voltage dependence of resistance R of the transfer roller is set not more than 0.5. The contacting portion of the transfer roller and an intermediate belt can be uniformly discharged, and therefore intermediate belt can be prevented from being changed in its property. As a result, an image forming apparatus having a stable transfer characteristic can be provided.

摘要： Core comprises a main stem which is formed on a substrate, linearly extending in the beam propagating direction and short branches with a certain length which extend perpendicularly to the beam propagating direction toward both sides along the plane of the substrate and are arranged at regular intervals in the beam propagating direction. Thus, the branches are arranged in a ladder geometry when it is viewed from the top, forming a rectangular waveform arrangement. The core constitutes a grating structure in which the width of the core is made to vary periodically with the branches in the beam propagating direction.

摘要： The present invention is directed to an optical fiber comprising a core and a cladding layer wherein at least one of the constitutional parameters thereof changes along the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber. In order to present a useful optical fiber wherein the occurrence of a Brillouin scattering is prevented, an optical fiber having altered constitutional parameters is found to be effective. The constitutional parameters mean the parameters which determine the constitution of the optical fiber and is capable of influencing the condition of electromagnetic wave transmitting therethrough such as light or acoustic wave. The constitutional parameters include diameter of the core, index of refraction of the core, diameter of the optical fiber, composition of the glass, residual stress of the core. Some examples are disclosed about their manufacturing process and the test results. Much improvement was measured, especially in the use for a single mode optical fiber.

摘要： An actuator has a frame and a slider body which are both made of extruded shapes of light-metal alloy. A first rail member is fastened to the frame by means of a simple construction. An upper sealing member is placed between the frame and the slider body. With the actuator constructed as stated earlier, the frame is an elongated extrusion of U-shape in transverse section whose side walls have first recesses of dovetail configuration to fit over first rail members and flanges. A slider has therein the slider body having second recesses of rectangular shape to fit over second rail members. There is further provided a driving unit to force the slider with respect to the frame. The first rail members each have the wedged configuration including tapered contours and dents, while the second rail members each have the rectangular shape.

An image pattern for adjustment that includes, for each color, an area made up of isolated dots by light source LD1 and an area made up of isolated dots by light source LD2, is printed for each ratio. In a copier, a density of each area is detected, a ratio at which a difference between the density of an area of isolated dots by light source LD1 and the density of an area of isolated dots by light source LD2 is smallest is decided as an adjustment ratio, and control is performed such that light sources LD1 and LD2 emit light at the adjusted ratio.

摘要： A printer detects density of a toner pattern on an intermediate transfer belt, operates a differential value for the detection value, and compares the differential value with a threshold value. If fluctuation of detection values is great and there are detection values of which differential values exceed the threshold value, those detection values are assumed to contain noise due to abnormality of the shape on the belt, and the detection values in such a range are corrected using curve approximation. A tone correction table is updated using the corrected detection values.
