摘要： Coating compositions are provided which include a polysiloxane comprising at least one reactive functional group, at least one material comprising at least one reactive functional group, and at least one boron-containing compound. Also provided are multi-layer composite coatings formed from a basecoat deposited from a pigmented coating composition and a topcoat applied over the basecoat, the topcoat deposited from the aforementioned coating composition. Methods for repairing a multi-layer composite coating and coated substrates are also provided. The compositions of the invention provide highly scratch resistant coatings, particularly highly scratch resistant color-plus-clear coatings, which have excellent intercoat adhesion to subsequently applied coating layers.

摘要： Improved multi-layer composites are provided. The multi-layer composites include at least a first polymeric layer and a second polymeric layer formed over the first polymeric layer thereby forming an interface region there between. At least one of the polymeric layers is formed from a thermosetting composition which contains an adhesion promoter composition. The adhesion promoter composition is formed from (1) at least one adhesion promoting component, and (2) at least one surface active component. The improvement is represented by the presence of the adhesion promoting component (1) at the interface region.

摘要： Multi-component composite coating compositions are provided which comprise a base coat deposited from a pigmented film-forming composition and a transparent top coat applied over the base coat in which the transparent top coat is deposited from a film-forming composition comprising one ore more ungelled chain-extended organic polysiloxanes having reactive functional groups, and one or more curing agents having functional groups reactive with the functional groups of the polysiloxane. Additionally provided is a process for applying the multi-component composite coatings described above to a substrate. Substrates coated with the above-described multi-component composite coating compositions are also provided.

摘要： An aqueous dispersion including polymeric microparticles which are prepared in a medium substantially free of organic solvent from a mixture of one or more reaction products of polymerizable, ethylenically unsaturated monomers, and one or more reactive organopolysiloxanes is provided. Pigmented film-forming compositions, curable compositions and topcoats of multi-component composite coating composition containing the above-described dispersions also are provided. The substantially solvent-free film-forming compositions of the invention are storage stable at room temperature and provide coatings with excellent application properties such as sag resistance and tack-free overspray, and excellent performance properties such as hardness and scratch resistance. The film-forming compositions are suitable for wet-on-wet application over a base coat with little or no mudcracking.

摘要： Carboxylated amide polymers and coating compositions containing same are especially useful for the coating of food and beverage containers. The carboxylated amide polymers are the reaction product of (1) a compound of formula: ##STR1## wherein A is the organic residue resulting from a ring opening reaction of a 1,2-epoxy group on a polyepoxide with ammonia or amine, R.sub.1 is hydrogen or a C.sub.1-4 alkyl group, R.sub.2 is a C.sub.2-12 alkylene group, x is 0 or 1, y is from 0 to 4, R.sub.3 is hydrogen or a C.sub.1-6 alkyl group, R.sub.4 is hydrogen or a C.sub.1-6 alkyl group, provided at least one R.sub.1, R.sub.3 or R.sub.4 is hydrogen, and n is at least 1.0 with (2) a cyclic anhydride of a dibasic carboxylic acid. The carboxylated amide polymers can be made water reducible by neutralizing the polymer with an organic or inorganic base and used in aqueous coating compositions.
