    摘要: Techniques for use in producing an incoming call message for a mobile-terminated call to a mobile communication device which operates in a wireless communication network are described. When the mobile-terminated call is a non-emergency call, data indications in one or more data fields of the incoming call message are set to instruct the mobile communication device to perform non-emergency call processing. When the mobile-terminated call is an emergency call from a public safety answering point entity, the data indications in the one or more data fields of the incoming call message are set to instruct the mobile communication device to automatically answer the emergency call.     摘要: In one illustrative example, a mobile communication device receives, via a generic access network (GAN) from a GAN controller, a message having a discontinuous transmission (DTX) indication. For a voice communication session, the mobile device causes a connection to be established with the GANC, via the GAN and over a wireless communication link with a wireless access point of the GAN, for the communication of voice data of the voice session which is provided via a core network of a mobile telecommunications network. In response to identifying that the DTX indication indicates that the DTX functions are instructed or supported by the GANC, the mobile device causes DTX functions to be performed for the communication of the voice data of the voice session over the wireless link. On the other hand, in response to identifying that the DTX indication fails to indicate that DTX functions are supported or instructed by the GANC, the mobile device refrains from causing the DTX functions to be performed for the communication of the voice data of the voice session over the wireless link. Preferably, the message which carries the DTX indication is a GA-RC REGISTER ACCEPT message or a GA-RC REGISTER UPDATE DOWNLINK message.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus for use by a mobile communication device in controlling the selection of communication networks for communications are described. In one illustrative example, the mobile device maintains a communication link with a radio access network (RAN) (e.g. an IEEE 802.11-based wireless network). The RAN is part of a generic access network (GAN) which further includes a gateway controller. The mobile device maintains, via the GAN, a service connection for a voice and/or data service with a core network of a visited Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN). The mobile device repeatedly performs actions while the service connection with the core network associated with the visited PLMN is maintained. Specifically, the mobile device operates to set and run a timer and, in response to an expiration of the timer, the mobile device sends, to a gateway controller via the RAN, a service connection request for a service connection with a core network of a home PLMN of the mobile device. If the service connection request is accepted, the mobile device operates to establish and maintain, via the GAN, a service connection with the core network of the home PLMN for communications. If this service connection request is not accepted, however, the mobile device operates to select an alternative visited PLMN from a preferred list of visited networks if the alternative visited PLMN has a higher priority in the list than the visited PLMN. In this case, the mobile device sends to a (gateway controller a service connection request for a service connection with a core network of the alternative visited PLMN.
