Abstract:
A carrier strip system includes a plurality of discrete carrier strips respectively receptive of fasteners of substantially different dimensions the strips having internal features configured to engage the fasteners, the strips further having substantially identical external dimensions said external dimensions being substantially symmetrical with respect to a virtual surface defined by inclusion of axes of the plurality of discrete fasteners, and the external dimensions being engagable with a single setting tool magazine such that fasteners with different dimensions have consistent alignment within a single setting tool magazine and method.
Abstract:
A fixing assembly for attaching a fixing to a workpiece, having a fixing and a resilient member. The fixing includes an aperture and is adapted for mating with the workpiece and holding the fixture. The resilient member includes a first portion secured in the aperture, and a second portion adapted for frictional engagement with a nosepiece of a fastener-driving tool.
Abstract:
A remote triggering device for a setting tool that includes a setting tool; an extension having a spring with a spring rate greater than a spring rate in the setting tool, the extension being in operable communication with the setting tool; and a trigger actuator in operable communication with both the extension and the setting. A method for remote triggering of a setting tool that includes urging a setting tool and extension against a work piece; compressing a spring in the setting tool; compressing a spring in the extension subsequent to the compression of a spring in the setting tool; actuating a triggering bar; actuating a trigger of the setting tool; and discharging a fastener for the setting tool.
Abstract:
An anchor for masonry. The anchor is relatively smooth walled and is forcibly driven into a hole formed in masonry or other suitable material for purposes of attaching fixtures. When driven into the hole, a shaped portion of the anchor is deformed in such a manner as to facilitate a 360 degree or greater bearing surface with the holes of wall. The walls of the hole impose forces onto the shank along this bearing surface which tend to deform shank into alignment with the hole by primarily elastic deformation so that the resulting frictional forces between the shank and the wall resist dislodgment from the hole.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a novel screw for use with dry wall and for hanging articles therefrom. This invention provides a screw with a head adapted for engagement with a driving tool, a shank whose diameter decreases from the head to a distal end, and a helical thread with a pitch diameter of at least about twice the largest minimum diameter of the shank. The thread including a geometry of an auger.
