摘要: A fixing device includes an induction heater disposed opposite a heating rotary body and including a first side core disposed at one end of the induction heater, a second side core disposed at another end of the induction heater in a direction of rotation of the heating rotary body, and a plurality of arch cores arranged in an axial direction of the heating rotary body. Each arch core includes a first vault edge face disposed at one end of the arch core in the direction of rotation of the heating rotary body and contacting a planar face of the first side core and a second vault edge face disposed at another end of the arch core in the direction of rotation of the heating rotary body and contacting a planar face of the second side core.

摘要: A fixing device includes a pressurization member pressed against a fixing rotator and a magnetic flux generator disposed opposite the fixing rotator. A heat generator is disposed opposite the magnetic flux generator to generate heat by a magnetic flux generated by the magnetic flux generator. A magnetic shield is movably disposed inside the heat generator to screen the magnetic flux penetrating through the heat generator. A pressure adjuster presses the pressurization member against the fixing rotator with variable pressure. An interlock interlocks the pressurization member with the magnetic shield. The pressure adjuster presses the pressurization member against the fixing rotator with increased pressure to move the magnetic shield via the interlock to a proximate position in proximity to the heat generator and with decreased pressure to move the magnetic shield via the interlock to a remote position being remote from the heat generator.

摘要: A fixing device includes a rotary member comprising a heat generation layer; an excitation coil generating magnetic flux, disposed along an axial direction of the rotary member and opposite the rotary member, to heat by induction the heat generation layer; a first demagnetizing coil layered on the excitation coil and generating magnetic flux in a direction reverse to and cancel the magnetic flux that the excitation coil generates; a sheet size detector to obtain a size of a recording sheet on which an image is to be formed by passing through the rotary member; and a drive controller to control driving of the first demagnetizing coil. The drive controller drives the first demagnetizing coil after information including the sheet size information has been obtained.

摘要: A fixing device includes a fixing member including a heat generator and an induction heater to heat the fixing member by electromagnetic induction. The induction heater includes an excitation coil, a ferromagnetic core to form a magnetic path to direct magnetic flux arising from the excitation coil to the fixing member, and a holder to hold the excitation coil and the ferromagnetic core. The holder has a surface facing the heat generator. The surface has a plurality of slits extending parallel to a direction of rotation of the fixing member. The ferromagnetic core is coupled to the holder and covers an open bottom portion of each slit of the plurality of slits to form a plurality of bottomed grooves.

摘要: An image forming apparatus including: a fixing unit; a main power supply that provides a portion of the heaters with voltage; and a secondary power supply that provides another portion of the heaters connected to the portion of the heaters in parallel with power provided by the main power supply. The secondary power supply is disposed below and in the neighborhood of the fixing unit. The secondary power supply may be disposed between a side face of a chassis of the image forming apparatus and the fixing unit, or at an exterior of the chassis of the image forming apparatus on the side face of the chassis. The secondary power supply can be prevented from being heated by the fixing unit.

摘要: An image fixing apparatus stably maintains high efficiency in heat generation and reduces excessive heat and loss of electric power consumption for fixing image. In at least one embodiment, the image fixing apparatus includes a magnetic flux generating member to generate a magnetic flux, and a heat member to generate heat with the magnetic flux. The heat member includes a first heat layer and a second heat layer having a relatively higher volume resistivity than the first heat layer, and having different thickness and/or different volume resistivity depending on a position in the width direction of the second heat layer. Portions of the magnetic flux generating member face different sides of the heat member.
