摘要： A wood working tool for cutting flutes on a curved profile, used with a wood lathe. The wood working tool includes a vertical mast secured to a base. A cutting tool holder is attached to the mast and can be connected at different positions to adjust the usable height to accommodate different size lathes. The tool holder supports a cutting tool such as router. The tool holder also supports a depth control bar with a roller at a working end of the control bar. The control bar is positioned such that the roller is near a cutter of the cutting tool. The depth control bar can be adjusted to allow for the cutting tool to cut a surface at a variety of depths. Moving the wood working tool along the length of the turning with the depth control bar engaged allows for cutting of the flute.

摘要： A butt flare reducing apparatus for logs is provided. The apparatus includes a machine frame, a stator ring assembly fixedly coupled to the machine frame, and a flare reducing tool adjustment assembly movably coupled to the stator ring assembly. The apparatus further includes an actuator coupled on one end to the machine frame and on the other end to the flare reducing tool adjustment assembly to move the flare reducing tool adjustment assembly between the opposing end positions, and a rotor assembly rotatably coupled to the stator ring assembly. The rotor assembly includes a rotor frame and at least one flare reducing tool movably coupled to the rotor frame to translate linearly toward and away from a longitudinal axis of rotation in direct correlation to movement of the actuator and flare reducing tool adjustment assembly to adjust a log processing diameter. Related methods are also provided.

摘要： A stock-shaping machine is operable to shape elongated stock and includes a powered machine and a jig. The powered machine includes a feed mechanism shiftably mounted relative to a frame so as to feed stock through the machine. The machine also includes a shaping device supported relative to the frame to shape the stock during feeding thereof. The elongated jig orients the stock so that an axis of the stock is at least generally parallel to a jig axis. The jig permits rotation of the stock relative to the jig about the stock axis and longitudinal sliding of the stock along the jig. The jig is mounted with the jig axis at an oblique angle relative to a machine feed axis so that shifting of the feed mechanism causes rotation and longitudinal sliding of the stock.

摘要： An apparatus for surfacing a flitch by cutting material from its radially outer surface to prepare the flitch for veneer slicing or other uses. The apparatus comprises a cutterhead rotatable about a cutterhead axis. The apparatus further comprises a carriage comprising a ring that rotates about a carriage axis and a pivot arm that carries the cutterhead and is coupled to the rotatable ring for pivoting movement about a pivot arm axis. The apparatus further comprises a flitch contour accommodation device coupled to the pivot arm and to the cutterhead to permit rotation of the cutterhead about a device axis that is generally transverse to the cutterhead axis.

Cutting methods are also disclosed that can include rotating a piece of material around the materials longitudinal axis and delivering the material to a cutting tool while the longitudinal axis of the material is aligned substantially opposite the direction of rotation of the cutting tool.

In another aspect, the support plate is moveable with respect to the carriage in a direction orthogonal to a line parallel with the direction of allowed movement of the carriage relative to the frame, and a pattern plate is mounted to the support plate to control workpiece depth of cut.

摘要： A precision multi-purpose machining apparatus for facilitating lathing, milling, drilling, sawing or routing operations typically using a rotary-type cutting tool. In a preferred embodiment the multi-purpose machining apparatus of this invention is characterized by an elongated support frame and a cutting tool mount cradle which is adjustably mounted on the support frame for receiving a cutting tool, such as an electric-powered DREMEL (trademark) rotary cutting tool. The support frame is capable of resting in a horizontal position, in which the cutting tool can be fitted with a cutting tool bit and the frame fitted with alternative workstock mounting attachments, to facilitate various lathing operations on a wooden or aluminum workstock. Alternatively, a saw table and saw blade can be removably mounted on the horizontal support frame and the cutting tool becomes a saw motor, the rotating shaft of which is connected to the saw blade by means of a drive belt, to facilitate various sawing operations. In another application, the frame can be disposed in a vertical configuration, in which a rotary table is removably mounted on the support frame and the cutting tool fitted with a milling blade or drill bit to facilitate milling and drilling operations, respectively. Alternatively, a router table can be removably mounted on the vertical support frame or on the rotary table, and a router bit mounted in the cutting tool to facilitate router operations.

摘要： A tenonizer apparatus has a motor and a circular cutting blade assembly mounted on a pivotable platform. A radius shoulder support shaft is pivotably mounted perpendicular to the circular cutting blade. The operator pushes and rotates the log along the shafts to create the tenon. Only one tenon can be cut at a time. A minimal set up time is required to switch between tenon types. The pivotable platform allows variable length tenons to be cut. The apparatus is portable.
