Class 79(3) [Also in Group XXXII] The final drive to an axle of the bogey wheels of a diesel-hydraulic locomotive is through a bevel and spur reduction gear (partly shown at 22). The torque reaction is carried by an arm 21 connected by rubber bush mountings 24, 24, to arms 26, 26, rigid with the drive 22, and at its other end by a resilient mounting 7, 8, to a transom 23 of the bogey. The resilient mounting 7, 8, comprises a pair of V-shaped rubber blocks 10, 10, disposed between outer members 7, 8, rigidly connected to a bracket 20 fixed to the transom 23, and inner blocks 11, 11, rigid with the arm 21. Other mountings are described (see Group XXXII) which are applicable to the nose mounting of electric-traction motors.
