    摘要: In a conventional CAM apparatus, cutting regions and a tool axis angle by which the cutting time is minimized cannot be automatically set for a finish shape having a free formed surface shape. Accordingly, the CAM apparatus generates quadrangle-shaped patterns of cutting regions using coordinate data of a finish shape and an initial shape. Triangle-shaped cutting regions are generated for concave-convex faces of the finish shape. For cutting regions generated by subtraction by boolean operation with a subtract shape calculated by subtraction by boolean operation between the initial shape and the finish shape, the tool axis angle is set so that the tool does not interfere and the face is maximized. For other regions, the tool axis is set so as to satisfy a remainder standard and to minimize a tool path length.

    摘要: A method of producing intricate, three-dimensional artwork requiring high resolution on the part of a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine is disclosed. An existing three dimensional carving is captured by a computer, and converted into a NURBS surface. The operator sets forth the dimensions of the surface to be carved, including the width and the length, as well as the width of its component stiles and rails. The operator further selects the corners of such surface in which the artwork is to be carved. Thereafter, the NURBS surface is scaled and positioned in accordance with the dimensions and parameters supplied, and transmitted to respective CNC machines. The CNC machines then perform a series of carving operations in accordance with the instructions supplied by a G-code file processed from the NURBS surfaces.

Further, in the mold processing data, a plurality of the processing tools 2 are selected in descending order of a size in accordance with sizes of the internal cells 13a of a processing portion, and the processing tool 2 is moved in a plane of the mold and in the thickness direction, thereby processing the mold. As a result, by using the V-CAD data, the NC processing program for mold processing can be simplified, and the mold processing time can be greatly reduced.
