Abstract:
An inline sampling device adapted to remove a representative sample drop-wise from a fluid flowing through a fluid line through a sampling probe disposed in the fluid line wherein the sampling probe has at least one fluid receiving, volume relief port adapted for receiving a multiplicity of drop-wise samples of fluid flowing through the fluid line and for discharging a portion of the volume of a sampling container. The device is particularly suitable for testing for mastitis in milking animals.
Abstract:
An apparatus for automatically shaving animals' udder and part of their legs while they are in a milking compartment for automatically milking animals. A shaving device is movably connected to one side of the milking compartment and is movable both transversely and longitudinally as well as vertically relative to the milking compartment for automatically shaving animals in a period of about 30 seconds in preselected areas in the vicinity of their udders and hind legs. The shaving machine has a robot arm with a shaver provided on its end. The shaving machine is preferably hingeably connected to the side of the milking compartment and its operations are controlled by a computer so that animals identified by an identification system are shaved, say, every tenth time that they enter the milking compartment to be milked therein, or are shaved therein after a selected duration of time after being previously shaved in the milking compartment. The same detector used for locating the animal' teats for the automatic milking operation is used for detecting the locations of the areas of the animal to be shaved.
Abstract:
A construction for automatically milking animals is provided with a milking robot having at least one teat cup (2) and means (3 to 8) for connecting the teat cup(s) (2) to the teats of an animal to be milked. The construction comprises at least one milk collecting unit and at least one milking unit (1) which is movable relative to the milk collecting unit, said milking unit (1) being provided with own propulsion means (10, 11, 14, 15). The mobile milking units (1) may be disigned as light and compact ones. The own propulsion means of the milking units (1) result in a multifunctional construction.
Abstract:
An adjusting member which comprises a computer which is included in an apparatus for automatically milking animals and which adjusts the period the time that the animal is milked during a milking run to obtain optimal milk production from the animal over an extended period of time. A time duration plot of the milking run is initially determined based on milk quantity produced by the animal per unit time whereby an optimal duration of milking time during a milking run is calculated by the computer in consideration of the total milk produced by the animal over an extended period of time and the period of time according to the time duration plot that the milk flow rate is optimal. By limiting the duration of a milking run to approximately three minutes it has been determined that the total amount of milk produced by the animal over an extended period such as twenty-four hours is increased. The adjusting member also controls the rate that milk is removed from the teat cups connected to the teats of the animal during milking runs by controlling the milk pump or vacuum (or both) that governs the rate the milk is removed.
Abstract:
In a method of automatically milking animals that are allowed to move about freely in an area intended therefor and to visit individually a milking parlour provided with a milking robot and an animal identification system, an animal is recognized at a visit in the milking parlour and milked when since its previous milking at least a predetermined time has elapsed. The animals are classified in groups, an individual predetermined time being allotted to each group. The classification of the animals in groups is altered in the course of time on the basis of the current physical condition and/or the currently expected milk yield of the animals.
Abstract:
A method for milking animals, particularly domesticated dairy animals, and most particularly dairy cattle, that improves milk/food sanitation, labor and cost efficiency, environmental friendliness, and throughput, that uses a wet prep and minimizes both interactions with the animal being milked and delays between steps during which recontamination of teats can happen. The best method comprises the steps of preparing the milker's hands, priming the animal's teats, attaching a feeder tube to a milking machine to each teat, and completing the milking. (Therefore through the method we sanitize the milker's hands, cows teats and feeder tube all in one step.) By preparing the milker rather than the udder and teats, the method eliminates steps and delays, and reduces chances for infection, material usages, and complexity, that were extant in the prior art.
Abstract:
The invention refers to a device and a method for carrying a milking member (1), which includes at least one teacup (3) and which is connected to a milking machine (5) via a flexible conduit member (6). A support element (10) is fixedly mounted in or at a milking box (13) arranged to receive an animal to be milked. An arm arrangement (9) is pivotably connected to the support element and arranged to support the milking member at least in connection with the application of the teacup to a teat of the animal. The arm arrangement is movable from a first position, in which the milking member is located beside the animal, to a second position, in which the milking member is located below the animal. The device includes a first part arranged to lock the milking member in relation to the arm arrangement in order to facilitate the application of the teacup to the teat.
Abstract:
For the determination of the occupancy of a milking stall by an animal, in particular a cow, in a rotary milking parlor with a plurality of milking stalls which are disposed on a rotatable milking platform, a process is proposed in which the identification of the animal only takes place after it has entered the milking stall in which it is supposed to be milked.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for machine milking an animal, particularly a cow, according to which a stir phase precedes a main milking phase, whereby during the entire stimulation phase, essentially no milk is withdrawn, and the of the stimulation phase is determined according to the amount of expected cisternal milk and/or alveolar milk.
Abstract:
A modular milking parlor has a rigid frame on which the components of the milking parlor such as milking stations and cow control systems are mounted. The milking parlor frame includes a rectangular frame base and upright members extending upwardly from the frame base. The modular parlor can be conveniently shipped as a unit by attaching wheeled carriages to the frame of the modular parlor and elevating the milking parlor by operating jacks on the carriages attached to the wheels. The modular milking parlor as supported by the wheels may be rolled to a truck which transports the modular parlor to the installation site, and can be rolled on the wheels from the truck to the position at which the modular parlor is to be installed, at which point the carriage jacks are operated to drop the modular parlor on the ground, and the carriages are removed. A layer of concrete may be deposited over the frame base to install the modular parlor firmly in place and to provide a smooth and sanitary platform for cows entering the milking parlor.
