A respirator 15 has a harness 10 that allows the respirator body 20 to be conveniently disposed beneath a wearer's chin when not in use. The harness 10 includes a substantially flat, flexible strap 14 and an element 12 that contains a curved elongated slot 16. The substantially flat, flexible strap 14 is threaded through the curved elongated slot 16. The curved configuration of the slot 16 causes the flat flexible strap 14 to be deformed to assume the curved configuration of the slot. This deformation of the strap 14 allows the strap 14 to frictionally engage element 12, and the frictional engagement allows the respirator body 20 to be incrementally withdrawn from the wearer's face so that it can be temporarily stored beneath the wearer's chin, and allows the respirator body 20 to be conveniently repositioned over the nose and mouth of the wearer by simply pulling on free ends 34 of each strap 14 and joining a buckle 32 behind the wearer's neck.

The occipital anchor, the forward anchor and the spring connector are substantially aligned along the axis of symmetry of the person's head. The mount is connected to the spring connector for mounting the apparatus so as to locate the apparatus over the orifice.

A smoke mask includes a moistened generally planar breathing filter sized to cover the nose and mouth of a user. A transparent eye shield, which may be either a plastic film or goggles, is attached to the breathing filter. Pressure sensitive adhesive is located on the peripheral edge of one surface of the mask structure for securing the mask to the face of the user. A release sheet covers the adhesive so that the adhesive is exposed upon removal of the release sheet. One or more slits in the peripheral edge of the mask enable the mask to adapt to the contour of the face of the user. A pull-apart tab facilitates opening of the mask structure by the user. The smoke mask may be used in combination with a waterproof canister, in which the mask is stored in a wetted and rolled condition. The canister may include threaded halves, or may be sealed by a pull-off cover or a threaded cover.

A lightweight oxygen delivery system for a patient comprising a curved resilient headband to extend from side to side over a patient's head and to be comfortably seatably engaged thereon. A clip is secured towards one end of the headband. An elongated tubular boom is secured at one end to the clip to extend and hold its position, when in operation from said one end at the clip to another end located at a space in front of, and proximal to the patient's nose and mouth. An oxygen diffuser port is located at the other end of the boom, to deliver oxygen from the boom to the space in the vicinity of the patient's nose and mouth. The clip is constructed so as to hold securely an oxygen delivery tube from an oxygen source in fluid communication with said one end of the boom so as to deliver oxygen from the source to the boom for discharge through the diffuser.

An oxygen mask for use on an infant is provided. The oxygen mask includes a face mask and a strap assembly connected to the face mask and extendable around the head of the infant for holding the face mask snugly against the infant's face. The strap assembly includes an upper rear strap, a lower rear strap, and a plurality of forward straps. The upper rear strap and the lower rear strap are joined so that the upper and lower rear straps form a loop. A first pair of the forward straps extend from the loop at a first juncture and each strap is adjustably connected to the face mask in a spaced apart relation. Similarly, a second pair of forward straps extend from an opposing side of the loop at a second juncture and are adjustably connected to the face mask in a spaced apart relation. The upper rear strap, the lower rear strap, and the forward straps are sized and oriented relative to one another such that when the face mask and the strap assembly are operably donned on the infant, each of the first and second junctures is positioned substantially above a corresponding ear of the infant, the upper rear strap is positioned across a top side of the infant's head, and the lower rear strap is positioned across a rearward side of the infant's head.

The present invention provides a flexible respirator filter having substantially coextensive front and back portions of filter material which are sealed to each other along their periphery, forming a sealed edge. A flexible plastic frame is contained within the front and back portions to form a plenum between the front and back portions of filter material. The frame has a peripheral edge which remains adjacent to the sealed edge of the filter material along substantially the entire length of the sealed edge to provide sufficient rigidity to prevent crushing while at the same time providing sufficient flexibility to fit under other personal protective equipment. A connector for attaching the filter to the respirator mask is formed integrally with the frame such that it protrudes through the back portion of the filter material. A plurality of recesses are also formed integrally with the frame to facilitate grasping the filter without crushing or damaging it.

The present invention enables functional testing nearly all aircrew equipment including a COMBAT EDGE (combined advanced technology enhanced design “G” ensemble) system components which include a mask, a G-suit, communication systems, and a goggle. The present invention includes a gas system which includes an input filter, a first compressor comprising at least one blower, preferably three blowers connected in series, a second compressor, a first flow sensor a second flow sensor, a first flow valve, a second flow valve, a regulator, a first pressure sensor, a second pressure sensor, a first pressure valve, a second pressure valve, and a controller. The inlet filter designed to accept a chemical filter. The second compressor produces a lower flow at a higher pressure than the first compressor. This combination works particularly well when inflating the G-suit because when the G-suit inflates, initially there is a large change in volume without much change in pressure, and then, as the G-suit fills out and becomes firm, the change in volume slows down and the rate of the pressure increases. The present invention includes a digital indicator. A method of operating the tester and the gas system are also disclosed. The present invention includes a normal breathing test, a preflight test, a fit test, a G-suit leak test and two dynamic flow leak tests. The communication system test and the goggle test are further included.
