摘要： An energy absorbing basketball goal/backboard unit incorporates a conventional vertically aligned backboard and horizontally aligned goal, i.e., the basket. The goal is spring mounted to pivot forwardly and downwardly out of its normal horizontal plane when a predetermined excess force is applied such as when a player dunks the basketball and slaps, hits or pulls the goal with his hands, wrists, or arms. The goal returns to its original position with the energy of the return motion being dissipated by shock absorbing means. In an alternate form provision is also made for the goal to deflect sideward under spring and shock absorbing restraint.

摘要： A pre-mounted fold-up basketball backboard and goal structure includes a molded fiber glass backboard with a network of reinforcing ribs on the rear surface of the backboard to strengthen the backboard and eliminate dead spots. The goal structure includes a hoop or rim with a support frame fixedly connected to the hoop and hinged to a base plate assembly which is secured to the backboard. The hinged connection of the hoop with the base plate assembly enables the hoop to be folded parallel to the backboard for shipment of the assembled hoop and backboard in a thin container. When erected for use, reinforcing rods extending from the hoop are secured to the base plate assembly by a clamping plate.

摘要： A basketball goal assembly designed for ease of assembly and adjustment, and including an upright, rectangular pole formed of a plurality of relatively short, aligned tubular pole components, each having substantially the same cross-sectional dimension. Two L-shaped angle brackets splice the pole components together. Each bracket engages two adjacent sides of a pole component and overlaps each of two adjacent components. A pair of bolts extend through the angle brackets and pole components, the bolts being perpendicular to each other, for securing same together to form a rigid, rectangular pole. A pair of vertically spaced backboard brackets are carried by the upper end of the pole and support a backboard, to which a basketball goal is attached.
