Abstract: The present disclosure provides sol-gels, sol-gel films and substrates, such as vehicle components, having a sol-gel film disposed thereon. At least one sol-gel is the reaction product of an organosilane, a metal alkoxide, an acid stabilizer, and an organic solvent, the sol-gel having about 10 wt % or less water content based on the total weight of the sol-gel. At least one vehicle component comprises a sol-gel coating system, comprising a metal substrate and a sol-gel disposed on the metal substrate, and the sol-gel is the reaction product of an organosilane, a metal alkoxide, an acid stabilizer, and an organic solvent, the sol-gel having about 10 wt % or less water content based on the total weight of the sol-gel.

The multi-unit carbodiimide and/or the siloxane may be used in a surface coating applied to a substrate, and an overcoat may be applied to the surface coating. The surface coating may chemically interact with the overcoat and/or the substrate to improve corrosion resistance and other properties of the coated substrate.

Abstract: A leather finishing agent that can enhance the mechanical properties and ultraviolet resistance of leather and a preparation method thereof are disclosed that relate to the field of leather additives. It was prepared by using polyphenol as raw material, hexamethylene tetramine as auxiliary agent, and a protonic acid as solvent, then heating and adding water for hydrolysis and dispersion. The method has the advantages of low production cost, simple process, high preparation efficiency, green production process and environmental protection. The leather finishing agent can be used in the finishing section after leather tanning. After finishing, the mechanical properties of the leather were significantly enhanced, and its UV resistance was also significantly improved.

Abstract: A coated substrate for an electronic device can include a substrate, a basecoat layer on the substrate, and an anti-fingerprint topcoat layer on the basecoat layer. The substrate can include a metal or metal alloy. The basecoat layer can include pigment particles and a first one-part thermally cured polymeric resin. The anti-fingerprint topcoat layer can include a second one-part thermally cured polymeric resin and an anti-fingerprint material. The anti-fingerprint material can include a fluoropolymer, a silane, or a combination thereof. The basecoat layer can be cured before applying the anti-fingerprint topcoat layer on the basecoat layer.
