摘要: The thermal resistance of a zinc chloride/ammonium chloride galvanizing preflux is improved by incorporating therein boric acid, other alkali metal chlorides and an aliphatic amino derivative. An improved zinc chloride/ammonium chloride galvanizing, top-flux includes a deoxidizer such as graphite or charcoal, other alkali metal chlorides and a foaming agent. Both compositions, the preflux and the top-flux, can be used to advantage in galvanizing steel with low lead or no lead zinc.

摘要: A method and device of performing plating of an item having a row of fine parts, e.g. a flatpack IC are disclosed. The method comprises immersing said item in a bath of molten solder, removing said item from said bath while maintaining said item in an attitude such that said row of fine parts is sloped with respect to the surface of said molten solder, and causing flux to exert a fluxing action on said molten solder which adheres to said fine parts, thereby decreasing the surface tension of the solder adhering to said fine parts and preventing bridges of solder from forming between said fine parts.

摘要: A PROCESS FOR ALUMINIZING AN ARTICLE BY IMMERSION IN A VESSEL CONTAINING A BATH OF MOLTEN ALUMINUM. PROVIDING AT LEAST ONE FORAMINOUS REFRACTORY BRICK IMPREGNATED WITH A FLUX MATEIAL HAVING A DENSITY LESS THAN THE MOLTEN ALUMINUM BATH. INTRODUCING THE BRICK INTO THE VESSEL IN CONTACT WITH THE ALUMINUM TO INITIATE DISCHARGE OF THE FLUX FROM THE REFRACTORY BRICK INTO THE ALUMINUM. RETAINING THE BRICK IN THE VESSEL FOR A SUFFICIENTLY LONG PERIOD OF TIME TO ESTABLISH A THIN FILM OF THE FLUX ON THE SURFACE OF THE MOLTEN ALUMINUM. SUBSEQUENTLY INTRODUCING THE ARTICLE TO BE ALUMINIZED INTO THE MOLTEN ALUMINUM AND RETAINING IT THEREIN FOR A PERIOD OF TIME SUFFICIENT TO COAT THE ARTICLE WITH THE MOLTEN ALUMINUM. THEREAFTER REMOVING THE ARTICLE AT A SUFFICIENTLY LOW RATE OF SPEED TO CAUSE FLUX PICKUP TO PROVIDE A FLUX COATING ON THE COATED ARTICLE AND THEREBY MINIMIZING OXIDE FORMATION ON THE COOLED PART. THE FORAMINOUS REFRACTORY BRICK IS PREFERABLY THERMALLY STABLE AT TGHE MOLTEN ALUMINUM BATH TEMPERATURE AND THE FLUX PREFERABLY HAS A MELTING TEMPERATURE NOT LESS THAN THE TEMPERATURE OF THE MOLTEN ALUMINUM BATH.
