    摘要: An optical disc inclination detecting method for detecting an inclination angle of an optical disc with respect to a light spot, for recording information or reproducing information by irradiating the light spot on the optical disc by an optical pickup. The method includes dividing the light spot into a main spot and both side spots in a specified track and track crossing directions before and after the specified track, detecting signals corresponding to a reflected light from the optical disc by photo detectors corresponding to the main spot and both side spots, and generating a DPP (differential push-pull) signal from signals corresponding to the main spot and both side spots. The method also generates a DPD (differential phase direction) signal by comparing phases from the signals corresponding to the main spot, determining a differential operation value of the DPP and DPD signals, and detecting the inclination angle of the optical disc based on the differential operation value.

The optical recording medium has a wobbled groove and pits formed at a pre-set interval in an area between turns of the wobbled groove. The recording/reproducing method includes controlling rotation of the optical recording medium by a wobbled signal from the groove and detecting the position on the optical recording medium of a recording signal by pit signals detected from the pits. The recording/reproducing apparatus includes a detection device for detecting the wobbled signal from the groove and a detection device for detecting pit signals from the pits. The rotation of the optical recording medium is controlled by the wobbled signals detected from the groove and the position on the optical recording medium of the recording signal is detected by the pit signal detected from the pits.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a recording and/or reproducing apparatus that records or reproduces information signals by scanning a signal recording surface of a rotated disk using a light beam irradiated from an optical pickup. Further, the present invention provides a skew adjustment based on a detection result from a detection unit detecting a return light beam that is irradiated onto the disk and is reflected thereon. The present invention comprises a disk rotating drive mechanism; a transfer mechanism that moves this rotating drive mechanism in a diametric direction of a mounted disk; an optical pickup unit that uses an objective lens to converge a light beam on a recording surface of a disk; a detection unit that irradiates a light beam onto the disk mounted on the rotating drive mechanism and detects a tilt of the disk mounted on the rotating drive mechanism based on the light beam returned from the disk; and an adjustment mechanism that provides a rotative movement based on a detection result from this detection unit around a center-axis line orthogonal to a line formed between an optical axis of the objective lens and the center of the disk.

    摘要: A focus detection system for use in a multi-beam optical pickup assembly is provided that uses an optical element, either a holographic element or diffractive element, to split beams reflected off of a data-bearing surface of an optical disk into a plurality of data beams and a plurality of focus beams. The optical element also introduces astigmatism into the focus beams. The focus beams are projected onto focus detectors configured to account for overlap between adjacent focus beams to produce an accurate focus error signal.
