摘要: Systems and methods for teaching proper wind usage for a musical instrument. One embodiment comprises an incentive spirometer apparatus having a tubular body with a bore therethrough. The apparatus has a series of ribs and grooves that are formed in the bore, on the interior surface of the tubular body. The ribs have a first, smaller inner diameter (e.g., ⅙ inch) and the grooves have a second, larger inner diameter (e.g., ⅓ inch). The ribs and grooves may be evenly spaced (e.g., ⅕ inch between successive ribs). When airflow through the tubular body is within a predetermined range, the airflow over the ribs and grooves produces an audible tone from the apparatus. When airflow through the tubular body is outside the predetermined range, no audible tone is produced by the apparatus.

摘要: Systems and methods for monitoring temperature distribution in downhole equipment using magnetostrictive probes. In one embodiment, an ESP motor has a stator with a rotor and shaft rotatably positioned within the stator. Magnetostrictive sensors are positioned within the motor. Each magnetostrictive sensor has a transducer, a probe, and electronic circuitry coupled to the transducer. The circuitry generates an initial electrical signal that is conveyed to the transducer. The signal passes through one or more coils in the transducer, generating magnetic fields that induce an acoustic signal in the probe. The acoustic signal propagates through the probe and waves are reflected from reflection points in the probe. The transducer senses the reflected acoustic waves and provides corresponding electrical signals to the circuitry, which determines timing intervals associated with the reflected waves and uses this information to determine temperatures at one or more locations in the probe (hence in the monitored equipment).

摘要: Systems and methods for electrically connecting conductors of a downhole electric system using connector bodies that includes an outer housing, one or more inner conductors and an inorganic insulating material such as a glass-ceramic material which forms a fluid-tight seal between the outer housing and the inner conductor. The insulating material may be bonded to the outer housing and to the inner conductor. The insulating material may alternatively have an interference fit with the outer housing and the inner conductor. The connector bodies may have standardized connector interfaces to facilitate connection to complementary standardized connector interfaces on cable-end connectors, etc. Connector bodies may be formed as motor heads, mandrels for cable splices, penetrators, etc.

摘要: Systems and methods for calibrating a 3D display system. In one embodiment, a system includes a display screen, 2D image projectors that project 2D projection images onto the screen and a camera that captures calibration images of the screen. A computer generates the 2D projection images, which include calibration patterns, and processes the captured calibration images. The computer uses the calibration images to calculate corrections based upon the calibration images. The computer can then generate corrected 2D projection images that are projected by the 2D image projectors onto the screen to produce a substantially visually correct 3D image with continuous viewing, true horizontal parallax, and a different view for each eye within a valid viewing zone. The corrections to the images may include corrections to the geometry (including distortion, alignment, etc.) color (including intensity and related parameters).

摘要: A swivel misalignment coupling for connecting pipe sections in a high-pressure conduit. In one embodiment, the coupling is a three-bolt coupling having a female coupling member, a male coupling member, and a swiveling collar member. The male and female coupling members have contact surfaces that are spherical to enable sealing contact between them. A seal ring may be positioned between the contact surfaces to ensure a good seal. The collar swivels around the male coupling member to facilitate fastening of the collar to the female coupling member, which holds the male and female coupling members in sealing engagement. Recesses may be positioned radially inward from the attachment points (e.g., bolt holes) of the female coupling member to reduce stress and potential deformation of the contact surface.

摘要: Systems and methods for processing power provided to downhole electrical systems such as electric submersible pump motors to increase the power factor of the supplied power. In one embodiment, a system comprises a downhole motor and a power factor corrector. The motor may be coupled to drive an electric submersible pump. The power factor corrector is configured to receive input power, process the received input power using one or more capacitive electrical components and thereby impart a capacitive phase shift between the voltage and the current of the received input power. The processed output power is provided to the downhole motor, which consumes the processed output power with a power factor which is greater than it would have been in the absence of the correction.

摘要: A limb support device that includes a vertical support, a base connected to a lower end of the vertical support and a head portion connected to an upper end of the vertical support. The base includes a set of foldable legs that can be positioned upward, where each leg is substantially parallel to the vertical support, or downward, where each leg is substantially perpendicular to the vertical support so that the vertical support is held upright. The head portion has a generally concave saddle that can hold a limb above the vertical support. The saddle can be pivoted so that it can be positioned at a variable angle with respect to the vertical support. The vertical support itself is adjustable in length.

摘要: A bi-endian multiprocessor system having multiple processing elements, each of which includes a processor core, a local memory and a memory flow controller. The memory flow controller transfers data between the local memory and data sources external to the processing element. If the processing element and the data source implement data representations having the same endian-ness, each multi-word line of data is stored in the local memory in the same word order as in the data source. If the processing element and the data source implement data representations having different endian-ness, the words of each multi-word line of data are transposed when data is transferred between local memory and the data source. The processing element may incorporate circuitry to add doublewords, wherein the circuitry can alternately carry bits from a first word to a second word or vice versa, depending upon whether the words in lines of data are transposed.

摘要: Systems and methods for generating a true 3-D display, where each of a viewer's eyes not only sees a different scene, but the scene changes continuously as the viewer moves his/her head or change his/her position from one angular location to another angular location with respect to the display screen. In one embodiment, a system comprises a set of 2-D image projectors and a display screen. The 2-D image projectors are configured to project individual 2-D images substantially in focus on the display screen. The display screen then diffuses (or reflects) each pixel from each of the 2-D images into a small angular slice. This enables the viewer observing the display screen to see a different one of the 2-D images with each eye. Further, the image seen by each eye varies as the viewer moves his or her head with respect to the display screen.
