Abstract:
A hydroxamic acid compound represented by the general formula (I) or a salt thereof; ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom, or a substituted or unsubstituted alkanoyl group, R.sup.2 represents an unsubstituted alkanoyl, substituted lower alkanoyl or substituted lower alkyl group, and m represents an integer of 3 to 7, which are useful for the prevention and/or treatment of diseases caused by lipoxygenase-mediated metablites.
Abstract:
One or two auxiliary rollers of relatively small diameter are pressed against the peripheral surface of a main rotatable body which is heated. Where the two auxiliary rollers are employed, they are spaced apart from each other and are rotated in one direction at the same peripheral speed as that of the main rotatable body. A sheet carrying an unfixed toner image is fed by being gripped between the main rotatable body and the auxiliary rollers, during which the toner is heated and dried, and fixed to the sheet with the solvent evaporated. Thereafter, the sheet is discharged toward a next process. The sheet auxiliary sheets are relatively disposed under certain positional conditions for keeping the sheet in intimate contact with the main rotatable body to achieve proper toner fixing and sheet feeding operations.
Abstract:
A resin produced by graft polymerizing at least one ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable compound on a mercapto group-containing alkyd resin, which is useful as an essential component in coating compositions such as paints.
Abstract:
A cleaning device includes an upstream cleaner, an upstream cleaner, and a collection member. The upstream cleaner is configured to remove toner from a surface of a cleaning target. The downstream cleaner is disposed downstream from the upstream cleaner in a direction of movement of the surface of the cleaning target. The downstream cleaner is configured to remove toner from the surface of the cleaning target. The collection member is configured to collect toner from the downstream cleaner.
Abstract:
In a lubricant applying device, a position adjusting member adjusts relative positions of a lubricant and a rotating member. The rotating member rotates while in contact with the lubricant, receives the lubricant, and applies the lubricant to an image carrier in an image forming apparatus.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a pyrimidine compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof represented by the following formula [I] wherein each symbol is as defined in the specification and a method of therapeutically or prophylactically treating an undesirable cell proliferation, comprising administering such a compound. The compound of the present invention has superior activity in suppressing undesirable cell proliferation, particularly, an antitumor activity, and is useful as an antitumor agent for the prophylaxis or treatment of cancer, rheumatism, and the like. In addition, the compound of the present invention can be a more effective antitumor agent when used in combination with other antitumor agents such as an alkylating agent or metabolism antagonist.
Abstract:
A surface moving body includes an endless surface that is capable of making an endless movement. A surface-moving-body drive mechanism includes a driving source of a driving force for moving the surface moving body and a drive transmission mechanism for transmitting the driving force from the driving source to the surface moving body. At least a part of the surface-moving-body drive mechanism is arranged in a surface-moving-body occupying space surrounded by two surfaces defined by ends of the endless surface in a width direction orthogonal to a surface moving direction of the endless surface and the endless surface.
Abstract:
A roller device that can be exchangeably used in an image forming apparatus includes a roller, a shaft, and two grip members. The roller is configured to cover the shaft along the rotation axis and have two roller ends from which the two shaft end portions of the shaft are projected outwardly along the rotation axis. A shaft is configured to have a rotation axis at a center thereof and have two shaft end portions. The two grip members are each configured to be rotatably disposed to a respective shaft end portion of the two shaft end portions.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, a transferor, a fixing unit, and a guide. The image carrier carries a toner image. The transferor opposes the image carrier to form a transfer nip and transfers the toner image on the image carrier onto a recording medium at the transfer nip. The fixing unit fixes the toner image on the recording medium. The guide guides the recording medium bearing the toner image from the transferor toward the fixing unit and includes a surface portion directly contacting the recording medium. The surface portion includes a material for charging the recording medium to have a polarity opposite to the polarity of a toner forming the toner image.
Abstract:
One end of a rotational shaft of a supporting rotational body attached with a rotational member is rotatably supported. The rotational member is sandwiched by a supporting frame that rotatably supports supporting rotational bodies spanned with an annular belt and fixing members fixed to the supporting frame. Thus, the one end of the rotational shaft is supported by the supporting frame and the fixing members at, at least two points. A mark detector is fixed to the fixing members, and the fixing members are fixed to the supporting frame at, at least two points. Accordingly, erroneous detection of a rotational angular speed or a rotational angular displacement of a supporting rotational body due to vibration of the supporting rotational body can be suppressed.
