摘要:
To provide simpler, more efficient methods for making scintillator arrays, one embodiment of the present invention is a method for making a scintillator array. The method includes extruding a mixture of a scintillator powder and a binder into rods; laminating the extruded rods with a sinterable reflector material; and sintering the laminated rods and reflector material into a scintillator block. Scintillator array embodiments of the present invention are useful in many types of pixelated radiation detectors, such as those used in computed tomography systems.

One aspect of the present invention is a detector array for an imaging system, the detector array having a plurality of electrically conductive busses, a plurality of detector elements arranged in rows extending in an x-direction and columns extending in a z-direction, a plurality of scan lines, each operatively coupled to at least one of the detector elements so that electrical activation of one of the scan lines transfers an electrical charge from the detector element onto one of the busses; a plurality of read-out lines; and an interconnection matrix operatively coupled to the busses and the read-out lines and electrically reconfigurable to transfer electrical charges from the busses selectively to the read-out lines.
摘要:
A multislice detector module producing an alterable quantity of slices and slice resolutions. In one embodiment, the detector module includes a plurality of photodiodes arranged in an array of rows and columns, a switch apparatus electrically coupled to photodiode output signals, and a decoder. The decoder is configured to enable or prevent each photodiode from being transmitted through the switch apparatus. The configuration of the decoder determines how many slices of data are transmitted and the resolution of each slice.

A multislice detector array producing an alterable quantity of slices and slice resolutions. In one embodiment, the detector array includes a detector housing, a plurality of detector modules, and a collimator. Each detector module includes a plurality of photodiodes arranged in an array of rows and columns, a switch apparatus electrically coupled to the photodiode output signals, and a decoder. The collimator is configured to separate X-ray beams so that only the focal X-ray beams are impinged upon the detector modules.

A CT detector capable of energy discrimination and direct conversion is disclosed. The detector includes multiple layers of semiconductor material with the layers having varying thicknesses. The detector is constructed to be segmented in the x-ray penetration direction so as to optimize count rate performance as well as avoid saturation. The detector also includes variable pixel pitch and a flexible binning of pixels to further enhance count rate performance.

The present invention is a directed to a CT detector for a CT imaging system that incorporates a segmented optical coupler between a photodiode array and a scintillator array. The segmented optical coupler also operates as a light collimator which improves the light collection efficiency of the photodiode array. The segmented optical coupler is defined by a series of reflector elements that collectively form a plurality of open cells. The open cells form light transmission cavities and facilitate the collimation of light from a scintillator to a photodiode. The cavities may be filled with optical epoxy for sealing to the photodiode array.

A method and system of counting and tagging radiation energy received by a radiation detector is presented. The method and system are designed to dynamically control the sampling window or shaping time characteristics of a photon counting detector to accommodate variations of flux experienced by the detector so as to preserve optimum detector performance and prevent saturation during high flux conditions.

A multi-layer reflector for a CT detector is disclosed. The reflector includes an x-ray absorption component that is sandwiched between a pair of highly reflective components. Such a reflector is formed between adjacent scintillators of a CT detector so as to reduce cross-talk between adjacent scintillators as well as maintain a relatively high light output for signal detection. Moreover, the multi-layer reflectors may be disposed one-dimensionally or two-dimensionally across a scintillator array. A method of manufacturing such a reflector and incorporating same into a CT detector is also disclosed.
