    摘要: An optical information medium includes a disk-shaped substrate (100) having a center hole (101), an annular information recording area thereon, and an annular resin-based light-transmitting layer (102) thereon by which recording/reading laser beam is transmitted to the information recording area. The light-transmitting layer (102) terminates at a radially inner periphery which forms an annular raised rim (6). The rim is effective for protecting the light-transmitting layer from damages and dust adhesion, and when a plurality of such media are stacked, preventing the media from intimate contact.

    摘要: A method for manufacturing an optical recording medium is provided, which can suppress the amount of eccentricity of a central hole to be small and can form a light transmitting layer with a uniform thickness even in a region around the central hole. In this manufacturing method, a manufacturing hole having a smaller inner diameter than that of the central hole is formed in a substrate. A core member is fitted into the manufacturing hole to be in close contact with the inner circumference of the manufacturing hole. A light transmitting layer is spread over an information recording surface of the substrate by supplying radiation curable resin in a region around the core member and rotating the substrate. Then, the light transmitting layer is cured by irradiation of radiation, and the core member is removed from the manufacturing hole. Thereafter the central hole is formed.

    摘要: A molding mold assembly is provided, for molding a mold substrate for an optical disc, to reduce an occurrence of burrs, etc. adversely affecting the optical disc and to improve accuracy of thickness of the optical disc made by the mold substrate. A substrate for an optical disc is provided that is capable of improving the accuracy of the thickness, as well as an optical disc with the improved accuracy of the thickness. The molding mold assembly is constructed such that a cavity for molding the mold substrate for the optical disc is configured, a stamper for transferring a hyperfine pattern onto the mold substrate is attached to the mold assembly so that a vicinal part of an innermost periphery portion of the stamper protrudes towards the cavity, and a face formed by a mold member configuring an inner peripheral portion of the mold substrate is substantially flush with an information area face on which the hyperfine pattern has been transferred.

    摘要: There are provided a composition for coating which can form an ink receiving layer having excellent adhesion with hydrophobic substrates, water-resistance and printing stability, and an optical recording medium having an ink receiving layer formed from this composition. The composition contains a radiation-curable compound (A) composed of 50 to 90% by weight of a monofunctional (meth) acrylic monomer and 10 to 50% by weight of a multifunctional (meth) acrylic monomer, a water-absorbing organic filler (C) in an amount of 10 to 60% by weight relative to (A), and a water-absorbing inorganic filler (D) in an amount of 1 to 20% by weight relative to (A). This composition is applied on a protecting film (6) and cured to form an ink receiving layer (7), to obtain an optical disk (1).

    摘要: A magneto-optical disc includes a recording layer (4) and a protective film (7) of radiation-cured resin on a substrate (2). Information is written in the recording layer with the aid of a magnetic head in sliding contact with the disc. In a first form, when the protective film is subject to a micro-vibration scratch test by setting the disc in a thin film scratch tester equipped with a diamond indentor having a radius of curvature R of up to 50 .mu.m, the relationship: 0.8.ltoreq.L/R.sup.2 .ltoreq.2.7 is met wherein L is the critical load (N.m) under which the thin film is scratched. In a second form, the protective film has a dynamic modulus of 5.0.times.10.sup.9 to 4.0.times.10.sup.10 dyn/cm.sup.2 at 100.degree. C. The disc is highly durable.
