    摘要: A miniaturized electro-optical, retro-reflective scanning module. The module has a base, a first circuit board, and a second circuit board mounted substantially orthogonal to the first circuit board. The base supports a light emitter for producing a scanning beam and optical elements for directing and collecting light energy. The emitted beam reflects off a fold mirror onto a reflector mounted on a drive for oscillation. The oscillating reflector, in turn, redirects the beam onto an indicia being read. The reflected light is reflected off the oscillating reflector and directed to the collection mirror before reaching a detector. The detector included in the module senses light reflected from an indicia scanned by the beam. The reflector is driven by an electro-magnetiz driven system, including a flexure and an actuation arm.

    摘要: An electro-optical, retroreflective scanning module has a base, a first circuit board, and a second circuit board mounted orthogonal to the first circuit board. The base supports a light emitter for producing a scanning beam. The beam reflects off a generally planar scan mirror affixed to a stationary concave collection mirror, to a reflector mounted on a drive for oscillation. A detector included in the module senses light reflected from an indicia scanned by the beam. The reflected light is reflected off the reflector and directed to the collection mirror before reaching the detector. The beam and the field of view of the detector are simultaneously scanned.

    摘要: An optical scanner such as a bar code scanner includes a laser diode to create the scanning laser beam. Laser diodes are characteristically astigmatic, and when passed through a rotationally symmetric lens the beam typically forms a waist both in the x (scanning) direction and in the y (perpendicular) direction. The width of the beam envelope in the x direction is adjusted by means of a conventional lens. The width of the beam envelope in the y direction is adjusted by the use of a non-planar mirror, preferably a cylindrical mirror, as the rotating or oscillating element.

    摘要: An optical bar code scanner and method which achieves an extended depth of focus by employing a multifocal length collection optical system. A radiation beam is generated for illuminating a field of view, either by a laser or nonlaser source. The embodiments specifically disclosed herein employ nonlaser sources such as LEDs. The multifocal length collection optical system consisting of a plurality of lenses or mirrors having at least a near range focal length and a long range focal length, simultaneously collects radiation reflected from objects in the field of view, and directs it to an optical detector for detection and generation of an electrical output signal indicative thereof. The electrical output signal of the detector is then passed through a high pass filter which filters out a DC background electrical signal, thereby improving the depth of modulation of the signal.

Preferably, two light sources are alternately energized to alternately produce two scan lines across the symbol. Each scan line reflects light from the symbol.
