摘要： A self adjusting jam prevention guide and jam clearance baffle for a printing machine. A moveable guide is attached to a machine subsystem module and is moveable from a first position to a second position. In the first position the guide bridges a gap between the machine subsystem module and a preceding subsystem module. In the second position, the guide is retracted from the gap to allow easy removal of one of the subsystem modules. The moveable guide is preferably self actuated by the use of a biasing device and a ramped section so that the movement of one of the adjacent subsystem modules causes extension and retraction of the guide. A jam clearance aid is further attached to the exit of the machine subsystem module. The clearance aid uses a J-shaped channel to cause a sheet fed into a jammed sheet to buckle and cause both the first jammed sheet and subsequent sheets to be partially ejected from the paper path for easy removal therefrom.

摘要： A dentifrice dispensing toothbrush utilizes a refillable cartridge for storing dentifrice material and a compressible elastic button for pumping dentifrice material from the cartridge to a brush head. The refillable cartridge has special adaptive features for mounting to different sized openings of toothpaste tubes to facilitate cartridge refilling and venting entrapped air.The essential components of the dentifrice dispensing toothbrush include 1) a brush head having an outlet opening therethrough and a series of bristles; 2) a pump assembly which has a pump chamber, an elastic compressible button and a base having a flap check valve; 3) a housing for attaching a refillable cartridge; 4) a refillable cartridge having an adaptive annular lip on its top opening for mating with the opening of a toothpaste tube and a plurality of shallow grooves for venting entrapped air, and a two-way follower disc for packing the dentifrice material. The dentifrice dispensing toothbrush optionally includes 5) a venting flip-cap for attachment to a toothpaste tube for releasing entrapped air when a cartridge is being refilled; and 6) a brush cover which seals the outlet opening of the brush head.

摘要： An apparatus for adaptive localized sheet decurling in an electrophotographic printing machine. A segmented decurling device forms a drive nip with an elastically deformable surfaced roll. A plurality of sensors are provided to determine the basis weight of the copy sheet, the density of the image being transferred to the copy sheet and fused thereon, the relative humidity of the machine environment, the process speed of the print engine, and any other relevant parameters. Signals indicative of these parameters are generated and sent to the machine controller which processes these signals to determine the degree of curl expected in a sheet. Based on the degree of of curl for each sheet section corresponding to a decurler segment, the decurler segment is actuated to a setting which should provide the proper amount of mechanical decurling force. Each segment is activated only for the duration deemed necessary to decurl the imaged sheet portion corresponding thereto.

摘要： Separating the physical sheets outputted from a shared users printer, especially, a facsimile receiver, into separate job sets for separate designed recipients, with an independent "mailboxing" job sorting accessory unit, not requiring any electronic connection to the printer, controlled solely by physical job cover sheets outputted by the printer at the same output in advance of the other sheets of the job, which cover sheets variably encoded with simply and uncritically marked areas indicative of an assigned bin number and the job sheet count. The unit sequentially takes the printer output sheets and feeds them through a sheet input with optical sensing connecting with a control for detecting the marked area encoding of the cover sheet and determining if it corresponds to an assigned bin number, for feeding the subsequent output sheets of the designated sheet count to a designated bin subsequent to such a detection; and for feeding output sheets to another output sheet collection bin if no such encoding is detected. The disclosed unit also desirably has bin locking for restricting access to individual bins with electrical unlocking of a bin in response to entry of a bin access code. Also disclosed is automatic bin recipient telephoning.

摘要： An apparatus feeds and separates sheets individually from a stack of sheets. A nudger is disposed adjacent to at least a portion of the stack, and a mechanism, including a rotatable friction feed belt thereon, is disposed adjacent a sheet on the stack to be fed. A variable normal force is provided between the nudger and the friction feed belt of the mechanism. A sensor detects a lead edge of a sheet at a preselected location relative to the mechanism, and the increase in the normal force between the mechanism and the nudger is stopped when the lead edge of a sheet is detected by the sensor.

摘要： A dispenser for paste-like materials is described which has a cover that automatically seals the dispenser's spout when no material is pumped therefrom thereby protecting the spout and its immediate surroundings from ambient air. The cover automatically unseals the spout while material is being dispensed. The dispenser includes (1) a housing, (2) a reservoir or replaceable cartridge for storing paste-like material, (3) a pump for causing the flow of a controlled quantity of material from the reservoir or cartridge, through a channel and its discharge from the spout and (4) an integrated, rotatable cover containing a sealing cap for the spout and a plunger for activating the pump. The sealing cap and plunger move in concert with each other so that material is pumped from the spout after the sealing cap moves away from the spout. The dispenser eliminates the need for the manual replacement of caps, seals, plugs, covers and the like and provides an efficient seal which eliminates unwanted caking in the spout caused by dried out material.
